“Amazing hostel! The staff were incredible especially Diego, he recommended us walks and was very helpful during our stay. The hostel is right next to the beach and a bus stop so it’s easy to get around the island. Just a really nice vibe place!”
“Really great for budget travellers especially the private rooms offer quiet and comfort. The team is great and they told me everything I needed to know. You are right in the Center and it’s only a walking distance to the main attractions! Can highly recommend it to my fellow travellers !”
“Super slay, totally recommend it. Awesome people, great food, lovely managers and best location. Met the love of my life here so no complaints :)”
“I will try to leave the most honest opinion possible for future travelers. after having stayed in many hostels in Auckland Hit Hostel is definitely the hostel where I felt the best.. There are inevitably things that can be unpleasant like the fact of not having windows in the rooms, but the spaces common areas completely fill this gap because they make us feel like we are in a large shared accommodation/ Flat where it is easy to meet people because it is a small hostel. the staff and the types of travelers who stay there are great. The staff do their utmost to keep the place clean even if unfortunately the cleanliness of a hostel also depends on the cleanliness of the travelers staying there at a given time and these are factors that we cannot control.. In any case price/quality ratio Hit hostel is the best you can find.”
“Had a great stay at this hostel. The dorm beds were comfortable and the privacy curtains were a nice touch. Even with the place fully booked for a concert, the kitchen and bathrooms were spotless. Highly recommended!”
“I really liked this hostel a lot, I stayed there for 3 weeks. Staff is amazing, all of them honest hard working guys. I always felt safe, welcome and the atmosphere / other guests was super warm and friendly. Good and clean kitchen and bathroom Only disadvantage is the sound insulation especially when room/window is facing K-Road”
“If you're looking for a hostel in Auckland, go here! My stay here was almost three months. It's mainly occupied by young students, as the hostel is located 100 meters from the university. Depending on whether you want one, two, or no windows, you'll get a single room for between $190 and $230 per week (as of November 2022). You'll share a bathroom and kitchen with about 6-7 people. If you stay here for a while, you can make friends. A garage, Wi-Fi, etc., is all available. You do have to pay a $600 deposit, though. You'll get it back after your stay if you don't damage anything. I've heard from some owners that the windowsills broke and they still got their deposit back.”
“I am surprised by the low reviews. Yes the place is not a 5* resort but give everything you need and expect. The location is really convenient: walking distance to the train station and supermarket. Room clean and tidy, with good wifi, fridge, heater and towels. The toilet, shower and kitchen are shared areas but they are clean every day. Never have to wait to use any of them. Landry services for free. For the price there is anything else you can ask for.”
“This is a great hostel even for longer time stays! I stayed here for more than 2 months myself and don’t have anything to complain about. The staff is really nice. James the receptionist helped me a lot with my visa application and finding a good fitness studio in Auckland downtown. Very friendly, young and happy hostel guests stay here and still it’s quite in the nights even in 8 bed dorms. Would stay here again any time :)”
“A charming guesthouse on the outskirts of Auckland, quiet and relatively close to the city itself, half an hour by car and conveniently located near the Swanson train station which leads to the city center if necessary. With all the necessary conditions for backpackers A fully equipped and functional kitchen, laundry services, car rental. A great place for a soft landing in New Zealand”
“LOVED it here. Lovely friendly owners, clean, comfortable and super-cool caravans, and a great common room, kitchen, deck, and showers/washrooms with everything you could ask for and more. So many thoughtful touches to enhance your stay. The trees, ferns, flowers and birds add to the relaxing and unique experience. Would love to return!”
“Clean and comfortable hostel with everything you'd need in the kitchen. The beautiful garden and balconys face a park and some city skyline. Great location for transport, felt safe and secure, everyone working there was incredibly helpful and informative!”
“Loved the location of this place! Next to Cafe and 10 mins walk to the nearest mall! Also direct bus services to the city and around and just next to the Morningside Train station! Great if you don’t own a car or a looking for an intermediate place to rent between places! Enjoyed a private stay. Although having your own network would be great and good if you don’t mind abit of husstle and bustle till late as the place bar near by is rather busy on weekends and some weekdays :)”
“Great conference rooms, and services. Always clean x”
“Oaklands is great. We stayed here for a week or so at the beginning of our 1 year working holiday, and chose to stay again when we returned to Auckland at the end of our year. Dorms and private rooms are nice, kitchen is big and everything is clean enough. Common areas are nice, both inside and out. Staff are helpful. And it's not too expensive. Good value for your money. I recommend staying at this hostel and climbing Mt. Eden, which is a quick hike right next door.”
“Best place to stay in Auckland as a traveller! Super clean, great facilities & rooms, staff gave us tons of recommendations for what to do in Auckland, and was nice n social out on the patio area. This is the spot to be.”
“Trendy place, great vibe. Private room had plenty of space. Great location downtown Auckland, easy walk to the port. There is a parking beside the hotel, you just need to download the app and it's pretty simple”
“Best Hostel I‘ve ever been to. Wanted to stay for a weekend and bow it‘s already more than am month. Living in the Hostel feels like renting a house with friends and family. I would recommend it!”
“i went to this camp for school it was AMAZING. it was abit of a long drive but it was SUPER COOL. but some bags got left in the bus but still 5 stars. my favourite part was rainbow tag. thank you for letting us stay a big thank you from waiuku primary school”
“Loved staying here, the people and atmosphere were really nice there. It had a rustic style that gave it a proper hostel vibe unlike some others around Auckland. Place was clean and staff were super friendly. The area is not the best but I never had any issues walking the street at night. The only issue I had was the dryer costs $6 and it didn't dry my stuff, I had to use it twice to get my stuff dry. Apart from that I'd recommend this to anyone.”
“Very good and warm hostel! I went there 3 times at different times during my road trip and everyone was always welcoming and everything was clean. The lady at the entrance was very kind and warm. Good location and good to have a computer access.”
“I love my experience here. In the 8 months I stayed here. Sercuity is top notch for safety. They won't let randoms drive in. 24/7 security Cabins: are clean, fully furnished, bed, fridge, microwave, kettle, kitchen ware, dining suite n tv, has bathroom with toilet. Towels, tea towels, linen n blankets. Cleaning lady does once a week inspection. Tea towels are washed n returned when put out on deck Office ladies: are lovely, welcoming n helpful. Wifi is available on site. Has playground for kids to play in. With a BBQ to use. Laundromat on site that's open 24/7. Can get coins from office during office hours People around are chilled n relaxed, but keep to themselves. Also close to motorway and shopping centre. Bit of a walk to bus stop next to Bunnings warehouse”
“Excellent place, just as in the photos. Great owners. Perfect for a large group celebration.”
“This is an awesome eco-friendly hostel, the owner (Ivan) is a legend and he does so many good things for the nature of Waiheke Island. He suggested things for us to do that we wouldn't have known about - we got to help out the local community and got to meet some truly inspirational people. We didn't want to leave!”
“I love the gadsby Lodge its nice and tidy the rents cheap and gave me a roof over my head.”
“Stayed here for 2 months whilst looking for a flat/work on a working holiday and it’s a great hostel for short or long term stay. Very clean, good value and has a very homely, friendly atmosphere”
“Really Great Stay. Very Clean & welcoming environment highly recommended”
“I had an absolutely spectacular stay at Hotel United Auckland! From the moment I walked in, I felt so welcomed. The hotel manager was outstanding – genuinely attentive and went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. The staff were incredibly friendly, always smiling and ready to help with anything. Breakfast was a real highlight – plenty of options to start the day right considering the price . And of course, I can’t forget to mention Milo, the hotel dog – such a sweet and friendly presence that made the whole experience feel even more special and homely. Overall, this hotel delivers warmth, comfort, and top-notch hospitality. I’ll definitely be back and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Auckland!”
