Had an amazing one night stay. Love the digitised check-in & key dispenser, made it super easy. Room was clean, bed was very comfortable, and overall happy with the shared amenities. Definitely staying again soon!

Haka House itself ok, clean enough, decent rooms and close to attractions. But that’s the only upside - Rough part of town, homesless (albeit harmless) people in doorways and lying on footpaths, rubbish everywhere and generally pretty run down and unattractive part of city. If you value a good nights sleep DO NOT stay here, the noise is ridiculous. Drunk, drug affected screaming people at ALL hours and alarms constantly going off. Completely unsuitable for anyone other than backpackers or people on a budget. NEVER AGAIN.

STAY IN LYLO HOSTEL IF YOU CAN. HAKA IS Everything was bad. The room was noisy. The insulation was poor, and they were on the side of the street. The blond guy treated me so agressive—I don't know if he has unresolved emotional issues or something—but he was very unpleasant. He yelled at me for leaving my backpack for 10 minutes to eat breakfast and then leave. He forced me to quickly leave the hostel. The cleaners came in disruptively to "clean" for literally a minute, just to be on their part. The vibes are so low and bad. I don't are the colors, the people, the environment, but is drained energy place. Please note this owners; this treatment would significant in don't recommend your place and talk bad things. The another haka (city) is ok but you feel the selfish energy..... anyway, charge for everything (like storage or parking guests) is a shameless attitude for who are pay for a service.

Clean and friendly hostel in a very accessible location. Wooden bed frames are great as they’re stable and don’t budge when the other person in the bunk moves. Only downsides are a noisy fan/ac(?), bathroom lacks ventilation, and it’s next to a pub/bar - on the weekend in the evening I could hear and feel the vibrations of their music. The kitchen is also full of stuff - questionable if it’s all from people actually still present!! (I was there in low season)

Loved staying here, the people and atmosphere were really nice there. It had a rustic style that gave it a proper hostel vibe unlike some others around Auckland. Place was clean and staff were super friendly. The area is not the best but I never had any issues walking the street at night. The only issue I had was the dryer costs $6 and it didn't dry my stuff, I had to use it twice to get my stuff dry. Apart from that I'd recommend this to anyone.

Great hostel, but reception closes at around 4/5pm. One night a room was overbooked and the ‘emergency’ number didn’t pick up for an hour… not reassuring. Otherwise staff are nice, the people who stay there are quiet, but note the area is not a nice part of Auckland, many homeless or drunk people hanging around entrance. This is not their fault but forward facing room ( female dorm ) faces a karaoke bar that goes to 2 am sometimes and loud arguments between the homeless downstairs cause be overheard and wake you up in the night. Good beds, no squeaking, duvet covers could be cleaned a little more. But would stay here again.

Very friendly staff and accommodating for my odd arrival and departure times. Cleaning often, but could do with cleaning duvet covers and appearance of mold in showers' overhead cover. I felt safe, bed was comfortable, common room area inviting. Did not feel like a party hostel at all. Felt like guests were mature adults, not youngins that need to grow up. Liked that the kitchen was not completely closed overnight. You can use the microwave in the overnight hours. Area is close enough to go to city hot spots or easily catch transit. Can be loud outside. I would stay here again. I'm actually sad I booked last minute and my preferred room wasn't available for my entire time in the city.

Amazing stay at the Haka Lodge. The place is as pretty and nice as in the pictures, and even though you may sleep with a lot of people in a room, you still get a lot of privacy having the curtains and plugs and all in each bed! The staff were all amazing, and helped me a lot every time I unexpectedly needed to extend my stay a little longer. It might not be the cheapest hostel in the area (which btw, great location, just a few minutes walking of everything), but it's definitely worth it. If I ever need to stay somewhere in Auckland again, I'll for sure stay in Haka!

Really nice and friendly hostel with good facilities. However, had a big issue with sleeping here as the noise coming from outside was just overwhelming. Also didn’t like the fact that the duvet covers are not washed after every guests use.

I spent 5 nights in this hostel. I arrived late the first day and was made very welcome. Showers and rooms are clean. In the hostel there are no noises at night. What makes noise is the karaoke bar next door but luckily it doesn't last all night. This did not prevent me from getting up around 7:30. You will find what you need nearby. I recommend
