“I had a procedue undertaken yesterday under general anaesthetic which I had been very anxious about in the lead up to it. All of the staff I interacted with were caring and patient with me, and they did their utmost to make me feel at ease. Doctor Koya was great, the anaesthist was great, the nurses were very kind to me and attentive, they all made a very difficult procedure for me as comfortable as they possibly could. Choosing a urology team is an important decision and I can honestly recommend One Six One whole heartedly and honestly”

“After consecutive miscarriages we came to FA to have testing done in order to find some answers. We had an appointment booked with Dr Simon Kelly, and they arranged an extensive panel of bloods & other tests to be done prior to coming in. I suprisingly fell pregnant the week before our appointment so Dr Kelly put me on medication to help hold the pregnancy and have just given birth to a beautiful healthy baby! While we can’t say for sure if it was the medication that helped this time or just pure luck, it gave us peace of mind & hope. I had asked my gp for these meds previously and was dismissed. Dr Kelly was kind, compassionate and really listened to us. It was the first time i felt heard in 2 years and we would highly recommend FA to others struggling with infertility”

“Overall, we had a very positive experience with them. We appreciate the professional service we received at Birthcare, and we absolutely love Kate and Lazzie, who demonstrate genuine care and profound commitment to the child, the mother, and the whānau. It was a very touching experience to see how they hold and talk about our baby, and how they model breastfeeding and baby-care techniques. We had to stay there for four days, and we experienced thorough and thoughtful care from at least seven staff members. All of them are professional and, in general, know what's best for our child. At first, it might feel like you experience inconsistent care and standards (which might be slightly true); however, the brighter side of this is that we learned so much from different staff members, as they all have their (unique) strengths. We also need to be aware that many of the staff members come from a different cultural background, and English may not be their native language, so it may take a while for you to fully understand them. For a minute, I even thought a few of them were quite condescending, but when you take their advice with an open heart and active listening skills, you might soon realise it is just how passionate they are about their job and how much they want to share what's best for you, even if you might not like the way they told you at first. Plus, the food is nice. A small surprise was that there was one time a student midwife (a quite capable one) came and performed a check-in and standard procedure. But she was not under any supervision during that time. Neither did she introduce herself as a student midwife until I found out. Highly recommend this place, especially if you are a first-time parent. We definitely learned so much!! Thank you, thank you, and very best from the bottom of our hearts.”

So greatful for her exceptional care, but her replacement Paul Kim is proving to be equally capable. Finally about the comments made about the receptionist: I did not find her " unfriendly". “Sylvia is exceptionally proficient and professional. I am a 40 year old first time mother and it was important to have a care provider like her that has 30years experience and both a medical approach as well as a respect for the knowledge and experience-based style care that comes from midwives. This may be unique to my situation but I appreciated having scans, blood tests, and hard data to rely on as well as advice and wisdom from experienced mamas to help me make the right decisions for me and my baby. With Dr. Rosevear’s care I had an uncomplicated vaginal birth of a healthy 7lb baby boy and was on my feet and feeling really good almost immediately. She is unwavering in her goal of ensuring a successful birth. Along the way of my prenatal care she was honest and clear about the statistics, approaches, and interventions used in some births and potential outcomes –she didn’t sugarcoat things– and was always respectful of me and my partners endless questions and had no problem when we declined any interventions or elements of care that didn’t feel right for us. I am so thankful to have had her care for me and my sweet baby boy.”

“My husband went to Botany SuperClinic Public Hospital in November 2023. There were at least 40 patients waiting in the clinic. Luckily, as my husband is a chronic asthmatic who suffered from short of breath, he didn’t need to wait for a long time. Staff there are very nice and helpful. If you are not feeling well, let’s go there and get appropriate medical treatment.”
