“We ordered the big breakfast, and smashed avocado. Mochiato with Oat milk. The food was beautifully presented, and tasted even better. Great serving size, not huge but the quality was excellent. and the coffee had a nice strength and flavour, the perfect cup! The place was very clean, staff lovely, not too busy and varied seating, easy parking and nice location. Could do with more street signage”
“What a cute cafe! The adorable barista Aria was so helpful and her energy was a breath of fresh air! She had above and beyond service.”
“Delicious eggs on sourdough. Just perfect and great value. I couldn't stop looking at the cabinet food though - wow!! It all looks absolutely amazing, delicious and wish I could have come back for morning tea... and lunch... and afternoon tea! Everything was wonderfully presented as well. What a great spot!”
“Nice little place surrounded by lots of Asian restaurants. They serve different flavours of bubble tea, and the taste was great. We really enjoyed our drinks!”
“Today I ordered a takeaway mocha frappe which a man made and it was absolutely delicious I had to leave a review!! Additionally, I came here for an iced latte and again it was the best latte I have had from a coffee shop and left a lasting impression. Thanks a lot.”
“As others have noted, this cafe is spacious and you can have your conversation in private. A good selection of cabinet food and prices for cooked food are reasonable. Our cheese scone was big so we halved it. We washed it down with a delicious hot choc and flat white.”
“Came here for breakfast with my partner. The inside looks great and the food is even better! There’s a menu and foods on display. I saw a falafel salad that I wanted but unfortunately it wasn’t vegan friendly. The chef came over to me to say she can make a vegan version from scratch. I really appreciated this and it was absolutely delicious. My partner got a chicken curry filo that he loved and we got two fresh apple juices. This all came to $41. A bargain if you ask me!”
“Came here for the $20 special menu, super great value. We had the egg benny with bacon, Tuscan mushrooms and creamy tomato pasta for kid. Generous portion and cooked to perfection. The lovely staffs really contribute a big part in our great experience. Thanks again to Danny who was super nice and friendly to us. My cappuccino was great too, perfect foamy. Definitely a recommended place.”
“Great coffee and first place open downtown in early morning. Staff friendly.”
“Best muffins I have ever tried!!! Had to take a photo while eating”
“Loved this cafe. Will go back next time I'm in Devonport”
“Amazing food and better service! This is a must stop for anyone in the area. Highlights for us weee the mango smoothie, eggs Benedict, avocado smash (better than California!), and raspberry scone. So good.”
“Great pit stop on the side of the Motorway! Amazing food and drinks. Lovely outside/courtyard type seating area. The breakfast food options were delicious (the omelette in particular 10/10) and a sweet little mimosa to wake the girls up. Recommend!”
“Great cafe really enjoyed our meals. The service was lovely and quick. Ice matcha was good. A good relaxing vibe. Value for money too which was a bonus if you spend over a certain amount your kids meal is free. Recommend this cafe to shoppers at Sylvia. 14/06 Just revisited and still consistent & generous with servings!”
“If you are looking for a delicious snack, try the ham and cheese croissant at Showa cafe. The croissant is perfectly baked, and the ham and cheese combo is simply delicious. You won’t be disappointed!”
“Super impressed with the quality of food, service and cleaniness of the cafe. No table is left uncleared. Always such a pleasure having our family breakfast here!”
“Perfect country side styled cafe to relax and enjoy the food and atmosphere. And I even got to see a 135 years old pine tree. Thanks to my beautiful daughter, we got to visit this place, rare but perfect.”
“WOW, my 3rd visit to this establishment for celebrating birthdays and today a MOTHERS DAY high tea experience! This was outstanding, the wait staff really looked after our table despite the cheek I gave them all. The place settings and tea selection was first class, then came the delicious high tea style food plus hot savouries absolutely amazing and super delicious we managed to eat everything presented! After our feasting we all went for a stroll around the beautiful property, fantastic a wonderful place for wedding photo shoot! Oh and the venue of course. Thank you for the most enjoyable trouble free MOTHERS DAY celebration! No dishes or cleaning up required! Oh it would pay your team to water blast the signage it top front of your premises, my only fault! Arthur C. Charlton West Auckland NZ”
“The team at 55 Café truly impressed us with their exceptional service in hosting the Asian Boss Collective 2025 event for Business North Harbour. We are incredibly grateful for their dedication and attention to detail, which went above and beyond our expectations. From the initial planning stages weeks in advance, the team made sure every need was met. A special thank you for your generosity in allowing us to stay longer than planned, giving everyone the time to unwind, relax, and enjoy each other’s company in such a welcoming atmosphere. The food was absolutely delicious, and the team ensured everything ran smoothly during the busy event days. We highly recommend 55 Café to anyone looking for the perfect location to create a memorable, professional event experience. We can’t wait for our next visit!”
“The Shelf is such a charming coffee shop! The decor is super cute, with unique and quirky items displayed on every shelf, giving it a cozy and fun vibe. They offer light snacks and some creative coffee options—like the sesame coffee, which I regret not trying. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, definitely a bit different from other coffee shops. It’s a lovely spot to hang out or even do some work on your laptop. As for the coffee itself, it’s good, but nothing extraordinary. Overall, it’s a great place to relax and enjoy the unique ambiance!”
“The best breakfast and coffee I’ve had in a very long time! The staff were incredibly friendly, accommodating, and offered great suggestions. The coffee was exceptional — smooth, rich, and perfectly brewed. The food was beautifully balanced, introducing fresh flavours I hadn’t tried before. Highly recommend this spot if you’re after something special to start your day!”
“Ordered a chai latte and chocolate cake and was very impressed! Chocolate cake was a generous serving, moist, and came with a dollop of sprinkle-topped cream :) And the chai was the best I've had at a cafe within memory - not too sweet, and strong flavour. Cafe was quiet but had nice seating area - Highly recommend”
“Great find in Manukau. Great food. Excellent coffee. Friendly service. Really appreciated not being faced with the same old, same old that so many cafes offer these days where you can tell, being a retired cafe owner, where the product has come from. Great selection of fresh and well presented cabinet food and nice brunch and lunch menu selection as well so you pick quick offerings on the go or to linger over a beautifully made coffee ☕️”
“What a lovely place. From the moment we walked in we were made welcome and given a menu straight away. Our server was very attentive and makes a decent coffee too (definitely a bonus). The staff are so kind too - I witnessed 2 of them helping an older gentleman into his chair. The food is lovely and hot. On our most recent visit we had creamy mushrooms and a breakfast buttie. I loved how the house rosti was shaped like a birds nest. The house soda is also very refreshing. I am definitely going back.”
“A great place to have a relaxing breakfast! Good presentation and even better tasting! Coffee come out quickly and so do the meals! All in the relaxing environment next to the Lloyd Elsmore parks.”
“Very impressed! Very busy with locals, truckies and tradies, always a sign of good food and service. A real value for money place to either stop and eat or pick up yummy, tasty cabinet food. Keep an eye out on the main road for it, especially if you have the kids with you. Good old icecreams and milkshakes too. Spotlessly clean, as are the toilets.”
“Unfortunately have closed down for good along with the anime shop. Had to take my daughter to Noah's ark for her milk tea which we ended throwing in the bin because it was just awful, please open up a stall or a separate shop”
“Food and staff are a breath of fresh air. Polite, excellent service and tasty good looking food. Value for money is excellent. Coffee is on point as well.”
