Everyone here was so lovely! We have been traveling the country and grateful to have tried such delicious food. My partner is celiac and this restaurant has tons of gluten free options. Berry smoothie & Coffee is fantastic. Would reccomend GF Russian pancakes & eggs benedict. We finished our meal with a GF chocolate Carmel bar. Honestly everything we ordered was delicious!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A warm local gem tucked away in Pt Chev — worth the visit if you're nearby The Pt Chev Beach Cafe is one of those places you don’t just stumble upon unless you’re wandering through the quiet streets of Point Chevalier — a relatively isolated pocket of Tāmaki Makaurau that feels worlds away from the bustle of central Auckland. It’s not in the middle of anything, and that’s part of its charm. You come here with intention — whether it’s for a walk along the beach, a catch-up with a local friend, or simply to enjoy a peaceful moment with a good coffee. The vibe inside is warm, inviting, and thoughtfully decorated. It’s got that cosy, lived-in feel that makes you want to linger. The layout is simple but effective, with plenty of natural light and a relaxed atmosphere that suits the neighbourhood perfectly. It’s clearly a local haunt — I’d say 99% of the customers are from the area, and you’re unlikely to see tourists or out-of-towners unless they’ve been tipped off by someone in the know. Now, about the coffee: it’s good, but not cheap. A small cup will set you back $6.50, which is noticeably higher than what you’d pay in nearby suburbs like Mt Albert. That said, you’re paying for more than just the drink — you’re paying for proximity to Pt Chev Beach (this is the closest café to the water), the quiet ambience, and the convenience of having a decent spot to sit down after a walk or swim. Food-wise, the menu is solid, with fresh ingredients and well-prepared dishes. Nothing overly fancy, but it’s consistent and satisfying. Service is friendly and efficient, though occasionally a bit slow during peak hours — understandable given the steady stream of loyal locals. Overall, I’d give The Pt Chev Beach Cafe a strong 4 stars. It’s not trying to be trendy or flashy, and that’s exactly why it works. It’s a place that serves its community well, offers a comfortable space to unwind, and delivers decent food and coffee in a location that matters. If you’re in the area — especially after a beach walk — it’s absolutely worth stopping by.

Wow! The slow cooked roast lamb pieces are divine!! Cheeky waiter who acts like your mum if you don't eat your veges (chargrilled eggplant in this case). Zucchini fritters were delicious too apparently (so good they weren't shared for me to confirm).

The best breakfast and coffee I’ve had in a very long time! The staff were incredibly friendly, accommodating, and offered great suggestions. The coffee was exceptional — smooth, rich, and perfectly brewed. The food was beautifully balanced, introducing fresh flavours I hadn’t tried before. Highly recommend this spot if you’re after something special to start your day!

I can’t speak highly enough of the fabulous experience we had today! A dozen ladies gathered to celebrate the impending arrival of my next grand baby! Service was friendly and prompt, the atmosphere so welcoming! All the food arrived at our table together, impeccably presented and tasted as delicious as it looked! I’m a coffee fiend and think you would be hard pressed to find a better coffee in Auckland! Thank you to all the staff for such a wonderful time at your cafe ❤️

Great location, coffe and taste of food. But small portion for the price. I think it is based on Mediterranean food. We had egg Benedict with agria and char grilled calamari. Flavourful food and great components. But after finish, we had to order another scone. Do expect 30$ per person at least.

Amazing chicken thighs, crispy, tender and juicy. Rice is treated with various spices. It can be seen that the coffee cups have been carefully selected and have a special atmosphere. There is a sense of art in the presentation of the plate, which not only satisfies the taste buds, but also enjoys the eyes. The restaurant has a large space, the space is arranged with intentions, and it is very clean and tidy. The waiters are very busy, but they can still take good care of the guests in a friendly manner.

Nice cafe at Point Chev. Coffee and food was served to me very quickly. Very efficient. Although the menu prices seems quite steep, but I guess they put themselves as quite high end.
