“Service was lovely, ensured we have a big enough table to accommodate a baby, a pre schooler and 4 adults. Food was tasty and fresh, very well priced for the area.”
“Great atmosphere. Fast and efficient service with hot, fresh and tasty meals with lots of options to choose from The managers Walter,Daisy and server Johnny are very attentive and welcoming. Jack at the bar was knowledgeable and helped us choose a great NZ wine. We will be back!”
“We went to The Taste of China for dinner with friends, and the food was the best I have ever had. I had the Braised Beef Brisket with Potatoes and Rice that came with complimentary chicken soup. The beef was so delicious, soft, and fatty, which made it super flavorful. The potatoes were delicious as well, and I will definitely be coming back for more. The only thing I will say is that although I ordered at the same time as my friend and had a very similar dish in terms of ingredients and size, mine still arrived more than 15 minutes after theirs did, which was slightly annoying as we were pressed for time. The meal I chose was $21, which is more than I would normally spend, but I got so much meat that it felt like it was really worth the price. So other than the long wait for food, this is a great place and I now have a new favorite meal!”
“Ordered the laska. Thick and creamy, good portion size. Very simple taste that could use some more complexity, but it was cheap and the shop is probably the best out of the given selection on the floor. Great service too. Would recommend.”
“Probably the best tasting and best value Chinese food I have eaten. We bought takeaway 2 nights in a row whilst visiting Auckland. Unfortunately we are back in Australia now and it's a bit far for Uber. Highly recommended!”
“Ordered 2 Beef Cheese pancakes. Nice people. Good is Yummy, chewy and decent amount! A nice, stomach-filling meal!”
“The grilled fish was amazing! Perfectly cooked with crispy skin and tender meat. The spices gave it a great kick without being too heavy. Served hot and flavorful—definitely one of the best dishes I’ve tried here. Highly recommend!”
“Great food. they accommodate the spicy level. Hardly seen in Western cafes or restos where they feed the whole staff, they should.”
“We got dumplings and beef noodle soup. The food was delicious. It is a small space with a few small tables, one table with 4 chairs and 3 tables with 2 chairs so not good for large groups or a big family to dinner in.”
“As a first-time customer, I was impressed with the extensive product range and competitive prices offered by this store. The delivery service exceeded my expectations, reaching the southern end of the North Island swiftly and securely packaging my fragile items. I am undoubtedly looking forward to future shopping experiences here. I'd also like to express my thanks for the bonus item, which was a nice treat for my kids. Thank you for your outstanding service!”
“Easily the best hand-pulled noodles in Auckland. I haven’t found anywhere close for this style of noodle. Noodles are texturally very correct - the perfect amount of bite. I can’t believe it’s not more popular, but I like not having to queue and how it’s just the two people running everything. The couple are super friendly. Highly recommend the 2-in-1 braised pork and oil splashed noodles.”
“Fresh, tasty food at a reasonable price. I had a mixed vegetable stirfry with chicken, which was succulent and tender. Helpful service, especially regarding my requirement to be gluten free (the Hungry Time used gf soy sauce in my stirfry). The place was clean and I appreciated the fact that the music was nice and quiet in the background, but it's not really the kind of place you go to for its decor - it's all about the food.”
“Hong Kong cuisine with Vermicelli, Baked Rice, Sizzling Plate and Entrées. They also have Desserts and Drinks. Big portions and good value for money. The Baked Rice meals are good for sharing, as there are many choices and differentflavour sauce. Plenty of parking right outside and clean facilities.”
“Visited The Roll yesterday and tried Bun Cha, Stir fried Beef PHO, Broken Rice with Pork Ribs and Vietnamese Pancake. The food was fresh and full of flavour. I was especially impressed with Bun Cha, the meatballs was so tender and smoky, perfectly with the dipping sauce. The Broken Rice was fantastic too. We were all really happy with the meal. The staff and service were wonderful. Definitely recommend checking it out!”
“Second time here after few months and Wayson remembers us by telling us how many people we were last time and where we were seated. His service is amazing the food is well priced and super yummy. We will be back and we highly recommend this place.”
“Good food, very affordable, lots of choices. My family always eat here. Don’t forget to order the coconut milk sago as well! They also offer free hot soup.”
“Where have I been living? Under rock? Because first time trying this place yesterday and oh my taste buds were flavourful!! 100% the best eat in/ dine out place in papakura”
“Had one of the best Asian food experiences with my crew. the food was amazing. The 8hour smashed braised beef and the stir fried singaporean noodles were my favourite, even the wok charred cashew brocolli caught me off guard, that it made me enjoy veges more. Unfortunatley im not the type to always take photos of such great food, since im there to eat not post and eat, so rely on other reveiwers for that :) The prices are very fair and well worth the cost. The service from Ted and his employees were amazing and I can't wait to return with my family next time, to enjoy this experience once more.”
“We got some dumplings to eat at our hotel tonight, chicken cabbage, beef, pork and chives, chicken fried rice. Amazingly good. I highly recommend.”
“Excellent dumpling place to visit in Albany! This is by far better than the majority of places i’ve visited. In terms of food, they give a really generous portion with good filling and really good soup. The smaller buns and dumplings are also really really good compared to many other competitors. Perhaps one of the best places! The service is quite cool, uses a scan QR code to see menu type of service. Food is served at moderate speeds, not too slow or fast. Atmosphere is also quite nice, not too noisy and plenty of seats.”
“Great new little Vietnamese place recently opened.. Food and taste was awesome and the pricing very good... Staff were friendly and we will be back again. Very happy to have a local Vietnamese restaurant close by. They are not on uber eats yet.”
“Huge bucket of beef noodles soup, lean beef, very nice, better than I expected. Chicken and mushrooms dumplings are very nice. Will go back and try more of other dishes. Thanks.”
“I give Magigers five stars for the value for money and the friendly service from the lovely couple who run it. We’ve been going here for 2o years! We keep coming back because the food is good, the quality is consistent, the portions are generous. Just good honest takeaways.”
“Fabulous food team as always thank you made the trip to Auckland even more enjoyable ❤️”
“I was looking for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. I don't normally try new restaurants as I'm scared of being disappointed. But I decided to take a chance on this spot and I don't regret it at all. I chose the pork belly on rice and it was beautiful. The pork was juicy. Just the right ratio of fat to meat. The cracking crispy and seasoned to perfection. And the portion size was great for the price point. A little sticky sweet sauce on the side would have taken this meal from great to "God tier status". I'm definatley coming back.”
“Had the original. So flavorful and delicious. Cooked fresh in like 2 minutes. Very kind guy preparing the food. Also one of the tiniest restaurants I’ve seen. Easy to miss but definitely a hidden gem. Bring a NZ card or cash.”
“Writing this review from heaven cause I died and came here right after eating the braised beef soup and the steamed soupy buns. everything about this meal was pure bliss. my friend and I had smiles the entire time. it made my day having such a great meal in such a great place for such a great price. all the stars.”
“Wow this is a return visit to this intimate dining venue after a few years. This time I was with my family. The portion sizes are generous. We had three small dishes and three mains with three sides. The small dishes were larger than expected. Pork, prawns and fish tartar all different but delicious. For a main I had the sweet and sour pork belly, this my go to dinner choice and it was mind blowing. I have rarely had a dish that was so perfectly balanced between rich salty pork and the sour sauce, I was in heaven. The duck fried rice and beef curry were rich and flavourful. No one had food envy and there was enough to share, we all loved it. Cocktails were lovely too, high recommended dinner experience. I'll let the photos speak for the cosy intimate atmosphere.”
“This place never dissapoints, we drive from Mairangi Bay to get standard takeaways here. Burgers and Toasties are great. They have THE BEST chips. Their wontons are delicous too. Have tried a couple chinese dishes and they didn't disappoint either. The owners/staff are really nice too. Definitely worth the drive.”
“Food is really good. Highly recommend the dumplings in the chilli & pepper soup. Warning, food is a lot spicier here. Normally would go for a medium, but that ended up feeling like a hot/extra hot. If you like things hot but not to the point of sweating a lot, stick to the mild.”
