Huami, nestled in the heart of Auckland's Federal Street dining precinct, is more than just a restaurant; it's an elegant journey into refined Chinese provincial cuisine. From the sophisticated, dimly lit ambiance to the impeccable service, every element prepares you for a memorable meal, but it’s the food—specifically two standout dishes—that truly shines. The dumplings here transcend the casual bite. We sampled a variety, and each was a masterpiece of delicate wrapper and intensely flavorful filling. They arrive perfectly steamed, glistening, and presented beautifully. The prawn and chive pockets, in particular, burst with fresh, oceanic sweetness, encased in a wrapper so fine it nearly dissolves on the tongue. They set a high bar, promising an authentic yet polished culinary experience. However, the star of the evening, and arguably Huami's must-try dish, is the Manuka Honey Glazed Pork. This is a perfect marriage of Chinese roasting tradition and New Zealand's native sweetness. The pork belly is roasted to absolute perfection, featuring a crackling, brittle skin that shatters with the slightest touch. Beneath this golden layer, the fat melts away, yielding rich, succulent meat. The Manuka honey glaze is applied flawlessly—it’s sticky, fragrant, and provides a complex, earthy sweetness that balances the savory pork without becoming cloying. It’s an elevated, modern take on char siu that is utterly addictive. Huami is an essential dining destination in Auckland. While the menu is extensive, focusing on their specialties like the magnificent dumplings and the show-stopping Manuka honey pork ensures you experience the best of their craft. Verdict: An exceptional experience. Elegant, refined, and boasting some of the best Chinese cuisine in New Zealand.

It seemed quite full and we were glad we had made a reservation. We noticed that the crowd was predominately Asian which was a good sign that this was not a tourist trap. The food variety was good. We had Dim Sum as a starter and then the pepper steak and fried rice. The rice seemed a little greasy and undercooked for our taste and they had run out of Tiger beer on tap.

11/10 Dishes were really good — everything was seasoned well and really flavourful. The best were the Peking duck, Tabasco shrimp, and definitely the soft-shell crab. The manager walter was super friendly and kind, and the service was amazing!!!! the setting of the place was dim and great. The dessert was super fruity and delicious.

The food was a bit disappointing. The noodles were VERY bland, and the chicken strips, while nice, had barely any sauce. All the promotional pictures of the set menu ($70pp) looked VERY different.

Huami truly exceeded my expectations! Their extensive menu offers something for everyone, and the food was absolutely amazing and lived up to the hype. My personal favorite was the Steamed Pork Ribs, and the Duck was divine as well. Their drinks were not only beautifully crafted but they were delicious. While both the food and cocktails were ridiculously good, what made the experience even more enjoyable was the exceptional service by Eva and Eli. They were unbelievably gracious, kind, and attentive. Eva's sweet and lovely personality and professional approach were impressive, and Eli's welcoming demeanor put me at ease. Even when I accidentally spilled my drink, they were incredibly understanding and replaced it promptly. The combination of awesome food and spectacular service makes it a definite Win-Win, and I can't wait to return!

Felt “so-so” after dining at Huami for there Yum Cha service. The food was good, but the experience was lacking. Service was quite poor, which when dining at a restaurant positioning itself as “premium” Chinese food, I would have expected the service to match. The dim sums were served with only three portions compared to the usual four at other Yum Cha places (although they were larger than usual Yum Cha restaurants), this made it awkward to split in a group. What I found most egregious was the dumpling with “truffle” - it came with only the tiniest bit on top. Better hope it the wind doesn’t blow it off the table! This was funny to me, as in an instagram ad they showed this dish with a decent slice of truffle on each dumpling. I understand truffle is expensive, but why advertise it this way if it’s not what I will receive? I drop the rating by a star based on that alone…

Staff members are friendly, courteous and helpfull. Some are attentive and some aren't so much. We ordered glutinous rice dish, and we waited for 1hr before being told that the kitchen forgot to make it for us; this is after our attempts to to asked about the dish earlier and we were only told that it'll take 10 minutes - every time we asked, without any follow up from their side. Food is a bit too bland for me. The dishes are going towards fusion rather than pure Asian.
