The beautiful decor around the restaurant adds to the identity of the restaurant and the culture too. This restaurant deserves all the praise that they receive and will receive in the future. “We had our wedding at this venue and it was perfect from start to finish. The spaces are beautiful, the layout flows effortlessly for ceremony, photos, and reception, and the food & bar service were outstanding. A special shout-out to Abigail, the venue manager—she was phenomenal. From our first visit she was organised, warm, and incredibly responsive, offering practical suggestions that elevated the day (timelines, room setup, wet-weather backup. On the day, Abigail and her team ran a smooth, stress-free event so we could focus on our guests. Multiple people told us it was a great venue, and we agree. If you’re considering this venue, book the tour and ask for Abigail—you’ll be in the best hands.”

“Was just passing by and thought it looked tasty in the window so came back for dinner and wow ! It's been a long time since I've had a steak so good. I ordered the Pacific steak which is a filet mignon stuffed with crab and topped with prawns and béarnaise sauce and there wasn't a slither of fat on it, was cooked just right and I really enjoyed it. The decor is cute I was reading the menu about Tony's story being the og steakhouse of Auckland and he said it was English pub inspired, as a Brit who hasn't been home in 4 months I enjoyed that (speaking of it was so much cheaper than what we'd pay in England for a steak) I also found the staff really nice, didn't catch their names but they were nice and friendly”

“Came here on a Saturday night with a large group. Despite being busy the service was amazing and friendly. Food was incredible, the half duck and beef curry were favourites, friends loved the cocktails too, highly recommend for groups and have since been back since with my husband and it was just as good.”

“BBQ! I recommend the chorizo. The pork belly was also good, but the beef steak was quite tough (maybe due to the meat quality?). I liked that plenty of side salad was served with the main dish. When I visited, there was only one chef and one manager working, but they were professional and friendly even in a fully packed and busy situation – true superstars! It's a great place to stop by for a drink with the chorizo.”

Despite some initial miscommunication (from us), the team went above and beyond to accommodate us. Food and service was excellent, venue is stunning. “Perhaps my most favorite meal during out trip to New Zealand, so good we had to make a special drive back before our flight home to eat here again. The Yang Rou Pao Mo is delicious comfort food, the hand pulled noodles are fantastic. All the sides - wonderful. The folks who run the restaurant - delightful. It's not very often I run into restaurants specializing in Xi'an or Shaanxi style foods, so this one was a wonderful surprise to happen across in Auckland. Thanks for the wonderful dinners!”

“Took my kids here and was impressed with the quality of the dumplings and pork buns. You get less (10 I think)than usual but the dumplings are bigger and have a lot more flavour than usually offered elsewhere. The pork buns were great too - not too much dough and lots of filling.”

“A tiny jewel hides in lovely St Heliers neighborhood. Booking is super easy - online or phone call. Parking is easy as. Quality, freshness and quantity of dishes achieved a great balance. Clean and tidy - toilet too (and not wet). Try and you will keep coming back.”

We rocked up 10 minutes before closing, and even though everything had been turned off, the owners and staff welcomed us in so warmly and whipped up a beautiful fettuccine. Then 15 minutes later, one of our whaanau turned up—and they didn’t think twice about firing things up again to make another. Truly above and beyond. “This is great little friendly cafe with delicious homemade pies . I had the Pumpkin Onion pie left me wanting to buy another one after eating it as it was so delicious . A nice hot chocolate not too sweet and coffees were great too.”

“We usually eat at the well known Chinese resto at New North rd but decided to give Tasty Bbq restaurant a try. We were not disappointed at all. Asian lady taking orders was really super friendly and well groomed. Place was a little bit small but the ambiance is all good. The place was well lit and images of the food on the wall with prices really helps with what to order. Price is a bit higher if going to be compared to the bbq Chinese resto on the ther side but taste and quantity is well worth it. Serving was really fast. Only negative we can think of is the shrimp on the vermicelli we order was kinda hard removing the skin but the taste was on the spot. We will definitely come back. Oh, and they have a reward system, they give you a stamp for every $35 spent and will get a $20 off on the 10th visit.”
