We were a little worried about the possum because we’ve experienced it being itchy before now but not with Ahipao! Soft as a cloud and great quality. “I tried out this little takeaway spot in Manurewa and ordered some chicken nibbles and chips. Honestly, they were just okay in my opinion. The nibbles were on the small side, but they did cook them up pretty quickly. Plus, the prices were decent. The only downside was finding parking - it was a bit of a challenge.”

“Wow, the "Steak Night" was fantastic. Normally my wife does not allow me to order steak, as 99 times out of 100, the chef does not know how to cook it, or it has not been aged, or the thickness is inconsistent I.e thick at one end and thin at the other. And I complain about it. However, I was pleasantly surprised as the friends I went with talked the restaurant up. We got there around 7 pm, and the place was buzzing, a really good atmosphere with locals obviously supporting this restaurant. The steak was spot on, asked for medium rare, and received a good sized portion of a very tender medium rare scotch fillet with mushroom sauce. Fries and a fresh garden salad finished of a simple but great meal. Yes, i took the time to go and thank the team in the kitchen for a great meal. My friends tell me Taco Night is also well worth going to, so I reckon my wife and I will have to make the journey North from Hamilton to do just that. 100% recommend this restaurant. Oh, one of our friends is celiac, and they were able to cater for her with GF fries and GF Salt and Pepper squid.”

“Such a gem! One of the best meals we had in NZ. The ceviche will change your life. We were basically licking the plate. Cocktails were fantastic. Doesn’t feel as touristy as other spots on the island which is nice as well. We were only stopping in for a snack and it was so good we ended up doing full blown dinner here. View of the ocean down the road from outdoor seating. Thank you to the chefs and wait staff for a wonderful meal and time!!!”

The shift manager and our waitress were very helpful when it came to understanding the menu so we ordered all the tastiest items! I really enjoyed the theatrics of the mix platter starter too, it came out on a sizzling plate & tasted delish. The stand out dish for me was the chicken korma, the nutty cashew sauce was amazing!
