As it is very local, I thought I give place a try. I've ordered few twice now - first 2 times I had thought "things happen". But third time also same result. Food: Chicken Fried Rice - extremely dry, as if the rice has been made and sitting in an over for a quick handover with customers Meat choice It did not feel like as it was made per order. All 3 times - same result. Very disappointed tbh. Chicken Chow Mein: Flavourless, vegetable undercooked, chicken was also under cooked. To a point where I had to throw it in the bin. Customer Service: 0/5. Very rude over the phone. Talking over me while I'm still placing my order. By saying "Ok ok", 10 mins. But then getting the order wrong - Instead of Chicken Fried Rice - I got given combined Fried rice. I had took back and got an exchange but the lady was not wanting their food back - I had advised her politely to not waste food. But they didn't want it and ended up giving it to another customer in line.

We were from out of town and looking for some f&c for dinner. After searching google it said Avalon fish and chip which it took us to woo long so we thought we would try it. VERY DISSAPOINTED in the FOOD. The prices were reasonable but the food was COOKED TERRIBLE. everything was way overcooked after telling them we wanted under done fish. The fish tasted old and fishy. The spring rolls had a weird taste and dry. the wontons were hard and dry, fried rice was clumped and when having spoons could still see white rice not much flavor. Got given spoons that were so small we used our hands to get a bigger scoop on the fried rice. couldn't even eat it we gave it to the birds at Avalon park. The worst f&c we have ever had tbh. We spent alot of money only to be disappointed and honestly we will never be going back there. I'm sorry but this is out honest review

IG: 2Fish1Chip Order: Blue Cod, Warehou and a scoop of chips. Cost: $33.80 I thought two different fillets would be better for comparison and as a more solid baseline. Firstly, WTAF!?! The size of these fillets were ginormous!!! I had to put a can of coke next to them for scale! Both fillets were equally delicious and cooked to peak performance. The Warehou was fresh and steaky as you would expect. Tasty and filling to the very end. The batter had perfect colouring and crunch. The Blue Cod had the same battered goodness, and flesh was flaky, soft and melted in your mouth. Classic Blue Cod vibes all the way to bank! The only minor piece on both fillets was the batter. The inside was a little underdone probably due to the dense mixture, but it was only a minor blip against the entire experience. The Crickle Cuts, we’re good as well. Nice crunch before reaching the pillowy centre. The portion was twice that of an average serving. ✅ Portion ✅ Cost ✅ Taste - With an asterisk for the batter Definitely value for money from these guys. Not sure if it was a one off, but I’d be keen to go back and do check in come summer. Xiexie

Wah Loong has been around for quite a while and the food is usually good however the consistency might vary. Portions are generous and each dish can usually be shared. They have their takeaways and restaurant located next to each other. I have not tried the dine in but have had the takeaways for a few times now. My favourite is their chicken fried rice and sweet & sour pork. Heaps of free off street parking available.

Value for money and delicious! Awesome Chinese food in NZ! We ordered their food for 2 nights straight! The highlight was that my wife, toddlers and I loved their steak fried rice and we chowed it down to the last grain! We ordered steak fried rice, wanton soup and pork cooked with ginger and spring onions and seasonal vegetables on the first night. As it was our first time ordering, I didn't realize how big the portion was until the staff handed me a box of food! We ate what we could and kept some for picnic the next day! The seasonal vegetables were cooked till tender and it was easy for my toddlers to munch! The steak fried rice was fragrant and flavourful and the steak was so tender! We ordered the steak fried rice and chicken cooked with ginger and spring onions and seasonal vegetables the next day. The chicken was also very tender and easy on the bite. Thanks to their food that I had fuss free meals for 2 days as my toddlers loved the food and had nothing to pick on! We'll definitely be back should we pass by Lower Hutt again!

Food portion was great. Service was ok giving there was only 2 of them. Food was tasty and quick, typical takeaway style. However, roast duck was special and the sizzling venison was really tender and tasty. Didn't get a chance to try their chef recommendation - taro duck....(forgot the name) - you have to pre-order this dish.
