    I have been coming here regulary for years and typically get their smorgasboard. The food here is generally fresh and very tasty. Their sweet and sour pork and black bean especially and they are usually quite generous with their portions. Staff speak very limited English, but are generally polite. It is not a pretty store. Looks quite run down inside and there isn't much room. Would recommend if you are feeding an army on a budget and like reasonable chinese food.

    I have vivid dreams of the golden star smorgasbord! I live far away now but I remember the perfect chicken and spring rolls! The best sweet and sour pork with fried rice! The orange beef is also amazing holy heck! I wanna get on a plane and come back to upper hutt not for any other reason than to get a large smorgasbord option!!!! I miss you!!@!

    We got the $59 plate that came from the smorgasbord, this was very very disappointing!! The pork from the sweet and sour pork was not crispy at all the rice and spring rolls had absolutely no flavour the wontons were bland and not a crunch to them. As for the fried mushrooms they were all mushy and the fried fish was as tough as boot leather. This was one of the most overrated places I have been to after I only went here from the reviews. I do not recommend!!

    Food was bland, everything tasted the same. Couldn't tell that I had ordered different dishes. Wontons, oily and bitter taste - maybe oil they cooked in was old.

    I've had shrimp chow mein from many different places and this one is pretty good. Fresh veges, good balance of broccoli and cauliflower, mushrooms, chunky onions, capsicum and soft noodles with good sized shrimps. The sauce was tasty and good consistency - not too thick or runny. The dish was hot and there was plenty of it so I will definitely be back for more.
