“Cozy atmosphere, great food and customer service. Coffee is nice too.”
“Enjoyed the complimentary breakfast buffet whilst staying at the James Cook hotel- we are a family of 7 so that helped us save a lot. Staff are great and welcoming. They have the best pancakes freshly made to order. We did have dinner one night where kids got to eat free with every paying adult but I found $65 to be quite excessive for the quality of food. Service was still great though:-)”
“Yummy creamy Chicken Rissoto - Huge portion only $9.”
“While staying a couple night with my brother he recommended this place. Loved the atmosphere and bar staff were awesome. Would definitely go back!”
The kitchen at Monza Sports Bar takes a simple, bistro‑style path and lets the food speak. A sensible spend for the spread. Service stays present without fuss. Plates offer plenty without weighing things down.
“So much fun here last night. Rung up early hours of the morning on a Saturday to book a room. The guy was lovely, friendly and accomodating. Great selection of fun songs that everyone could sing along too. Defo rate it!! Thanks so much for a good night.”
“Great local pub feel. Not a family place, just a beer with mates type place. Locals were happy to chat. Staff were very friendly.”
“Massive bar with lots of friendly locals. Couple pool table tab and lots of tvs for sport. Great music too.”
At Zabeels Sports Bar & TAB, the menu stays kebab and pita, served with an easygoing pace. Music and pace keep a casual tone. Front‑of‑house runs with calm, helpful energy. Sauces stay in check and wraps hold together.
“Usually a very quiet and chill pub The food is not bad and friendly staff too”
“It's a basic student venue. Beer on tap, some house wine, nothing flash. Perfect for a rowdy band.”
The Brasserie Kitchen & Wine Bar runs with a classic fish‑and‑chips menu and a relaxed pace. Eggs land on point and toast keeps its crunch. Fish lands crisp with light batter and chips stay tidy. Service stays present without fuss.
Ports O' Call Bar & Grill delivers a classic fish-and-chips offering that’s straight to the point. Ribs and steaks come seasoned and tender. Value feels fair for the spread. Combinations read bold but stay balanced.
“Chelsea is a wonderful host. Her team are upbeat and friendly and nothing is a problem to them. Love the banter and the vibe, and by the way the food and drinks go down a treat too. Thank you Chelsea”
“This place is always a good time. The tap rotation is excellent. They're the place to go to get Bohemeth, Urbanaut, Beer Baroness among loads of other great breweries. Takeaway options galore too.”
“Incredible meal and lovely night out. The service was superb, and food amazing. Considering we had 14 (I think?) courses, what was nice was having the space to feel like relaxed at dinner. We have done plenty of tasting menu's and sometimes you feel like you can't have a conversation without someone popping over and interrupting with something. It can't be easy to get the balance right on this! Wine menu also great, not the biggest selection - they probably don't have the storage space - but they were all super interesting and we enjoyed trying the tasting flight. We were asked what out favourite dish was and it was impossible to pick - it was all delicious.”
“Best little hidden gem on the cities fringe, hand curated winelist that is forever evolving, good selection of cold fizzies on tap and the make a banging negroni! highly recommend to all”
“Unusual and creative bar that serves eccentric cocktails in the heart of Napier. The bartenders really know how to make amazing cocktails, every single one being really unique and perfectly balanced! We will definitely come back the next time we are in Napier. Lots of love! ❤️ J & C”
On the plate at Arbour Woodfired Pizza and Bar, the idea is pizza‑first and well judged. Grill work shows a clean sear and rested meats. Meat‑free options are woven into the menu. Service stays present without fuss.
“Best place to go for a beer. Great service and Dave is a legend. Alt kitchen food is always above average and the pizzas are delicious. Would recommend this place if your ever near.”
“Fantastic beers and amazing food! Clean and easygoing environment and super helpful staff. Loved all the dogs - made the whole time there feel super relaxed!”
“Such an awesome little spot for coffee with a view. It was super busy when we arrived but still welcomed with great customer service. Basic cabinet food- only 1 option for vegetarians. The milkshake was a 10/10 would definitely have again!”
“It’s so rare to find a restaurant that gets it right in Auckland these days. Enjoy great food, great wine and excellent service - fantastic thank you guys!”
“Friendly and attentive staff, yummy food at a decent price, nice view over the estuary. Veggie Grill was an unexpected delight not normally afforded to vegetarians visiting a steakhouse!”
