“During s brief vist to Christchurch, I enjoyed the hospitalty at this venue on two occasions. Good menu backed up by great offering, well supported by friendly stsff. Got the impression it is a well supported venue by locals. I was told that any members of affiliated service clubs throughout New Zealand csn enjoy this venue.”

“My wife and I have now been here several times, we have tried different dishes but seem to gravitate back to the chicken iskender meal , we find the small ( reasonable priced) meal is more than enough for a lunch meal. The food is always excellent quality and flavourful which is why I would recommend it to anyone who like great food.”

“What an awesome local, this was our second visit for a meal. We enjoyed our first visit last time we were in town and this visit was just as good. Great to see the quality experience wasn't a once off. Very friendly staff especially the mascot pup Oden. Service was fast friendly and no problem with my requests for a custom burger. “I had high tea. The tea itself was fantastic. The pastries and sandwiches were excellent. The staff was very attentive, maybe even over so in the beginning. And then it was hard to find someone when it was time to pay the bill. My one suggestion is that there's no way to take your tea bag out of the pot. Nothing to take it out with and no place to put it. And I don't always like my tea really strong, depending on what type of tea I get. They would also elevate the experience if they had some type of table cover.”

I came here to leave a glowing review after I made yet another great coffee from Hummingbird OOMPH! beans. I also enjoy the Nectar blend. The beans always seem to be fresh out of the packet and I suspect the foil packaging is better than other supermarket brands. Really impressed with this coffee.”

“We had the high tea which did not disappoint. It was hard to choose a favourite they were all so delicious and there was a good amount of food as well. Lovely waitress looking after us who took the time to explain all of the tasty treats. Highly recommend, I will certainly be back!!”

“My wife and I are visiting New Zealand from the States on our honeymoon and chose this place for dinner following recommendations we found on Reddit. We ordered the “Trust the Chef” prix fixe option with some mocktails and were absolutely floored by how good it was. We ended up with eight courses: prawn toast, pork wonton, mouthwatering chicken, a xiaolongbao and shumai each, crispy roasted duck in curry, stir fried oyster mushrooms, green beans in XO sauce and tiramisu for dessert. Every course was absolutely delicious, and I particularly loved the prawn toast and the roast duck. The portion sizes were also massive- we ended up with two takeaway boxes and could probably have saved more if we paced ourselves properly. Midnight Shanghai showed us a spectacular meal and I hope to visit them again someday!”

“Went in to get a microwave oven and walked out with a microwave oven. Good service and the took a good guess with regards to sizing as it fitted in the wooden shelf perfectly. The salesman Rod was very helpful and even carried the oven to the car. A good experience.”
