We had the high tea which did not disappoint. It was hard to choose a favourite they were all so delicious and there was a good amount of food as well. Lovely waitress looking after us who took the time to explain all of the tasty treats. Highly recommend, I will certainly be back!!

Hotel restaurants can be a mixed bag, but Gumption was great - very glad we checked it out during our stay. Service was good, food was delicious, and prices were reasonable. The breakfast buffet was also great. The only downside was some mosquitos hanging about.
Hidden gem. A great dining experience. Friendly, helpful and attentive staff Rowan and Charmaine. The menu offers plenty of tasty options. For starters we had the bread board and tomato bisque, everything was very tasty with amazing bread. The steak was cooked perfectly and was very tender. A range of sauces and sides are available with the steak. You can choose 1 sauce and 2 sides. The mac n cheese side was delicious and I highly recommend! Locally sourced produce. Yorkshire pudding was overcooked. Wine, beer spirits and soft drinks menu. Free water available. Wheelchair accessible entry. Disabled toilets. Credit and debit cards accepted. Pay wave accepted. No pay wave surcharge. No credit surcharge.
Not bad. Ordered the duck breast and lamb rack main. Very tasty duck but lamb a bit lacking - cooked well but a bit insubstantial. Not enough meat and the sauce really lacked depth of flavour or in fact any flavour at all. The Gumption sandwich was just too savoury. Needs more sweetness. The pineapple helped but wasn't enough. I was left searching for sweetness - even sticking the star anise in mouth for relief. The balance was missed there. Great staff though, might try the venison next time.
One of the best kept secrets of the new Christchurch dining scene, this restaurant opened in March as part of the ex-Millennium Hotel now dubbed the Distinction Hotel. Beautiful decor with a comfortable atmosphere, the service was spectacular! But most importantly the food was absolutely breathtaking. Generous portion sizes, fresh ingredients, mouthwatering presentation and skillful seasoning and balance of flavours. This is my new favourite restuarant. Will be back for sure.
