“HALF & HALF - Recommended dish here. The dish comprises of half balsamic mushrooms & half scrambled eggs, along with two slices of delicious toasted sourdough. The balsamic seasoning of the mushroom was perfect and the scrambled eggs were cooked to perfection. Also the eggs were not seasoned, allowing me to adjust the seasoning to my taste. The staff were friendly and the service time was reasonable given how busy the place was. There is extra seating upstairs along with alot of outdoor seating, including the tables in front of the restaurant next door. Great to take in some sun rays and enjoy. In summary, they deliver staple food to a high standard in a great wee spot on Ponsonby. Will be back again!”

“Fantastic café! Some of the friendliest staff I’ve ever encountered. We were visiting from out of town with our 6-month-old, and they made us feel incredibly welcome and accommodated. Although we only stopped in for a quick drink before heading to the airport, I tried some of their recommended food, and I wasn’t disappointed. The chicken bao were fresh, perfectly seasoned, and light—not heavy like some can be. The atmosphere is stylish, modern, with a bit of an industrial vibe, which is right up my alley. Full marks to the team—thank you! We’ll definitely be back.”

“Came in here with my daughter today at a very busy period. Luvia made us bubble teas. Three different ones and all of them were so amazing. We have coming here as regulars pretty much every week once or twice for the last 2-3 years but today’s bubble teas were one of the best one we have had. Amazing job Luvia!!”

The food was beautifully presented in such a creative way, and it tasted just as good as it looked. The coffee was outstanding — easily one of the best I’ve had, thanks to the talented barista. A special mention to Sandun De Silva, the owner, for creating such a wonderful place. You can really feel the passion and care that goes into every detail here. Definitely a five-star worthy café — highly recommend to anyone visiting Takapuna!”

“If I could give more than 5 stars I would! A few years ago I was pregnant,tired and incredibly hungry and all the restaurants were actually closing their doors, including vino. My poor husband ran up just as you were closing the doors and asked if you had anything spare he could buy for me quickly. Without hesitation you actually turned your ovens back on,chatted to my husband about life,and made me a double portion of pasta FREE of charge and said it was a gift for us and our first baby. I genuinely cried at how generous you were to a total stranger. Don’t know if you remember this at all,but it’s always stuck with us! Highly recommend to anyone and everyone.”

“We had breakfast there . The breakfast menu was good. The food we ordered was really tasty. The atmosphere is of really cozy street cafe where you can spend time and have food. A bit like Europe. The service was real fast and very polite. Overall A nice experience.”

Recommend going when it is less busier as the service was top notch on Monday brunch, which was a big contrast to Saturday brunch where we weren't attended to. I think this is reflected in some of the reviews. Today we had Top notch service! They had fire places nearby tables which made it nice and warm on a chilly morning. Food portions were huge and we left feeling very satisfied! I would say one of the top brunch spots in Auckland CBD!”

We first discovered Joe’s Garage in Queenstown and instantly fell in love — the food, the layout, the vibe… everything was perfect. But the real star for us was the pancakes, which our daughter adored. For a whole year she talked about them and couldn’t wait to go back as we were from Auckland. So when we found out there was a Joe’s Garage in Silverdale, we were thrilled — even though we live all the way in Henderson, we were more than happy to make the trip. We finally arrived, excited and ready… only to learn that the famous pancakes are only served before 5pm, and we had arrived at 6:30pm. Our daughter was devastated, and honestly, so were we. But this is where the magic happened. Our wonderful server Tyra (who was also managing that evening) could see how much it meant to our daughter. We politely asked if there was any chance the chef might be able to make an exception. Instead of giving us a flat no, Tyra said, “Let me see what I can do.” She went to speak with the kitchen team, and came back with the most heartwarming news — their chef Hunter was willing to make a fresh batch of pancakes from scratch, just for our daughter. We were genuinely moved. This wasn’t standard service — this was above and beyond. Tyra’s kindness, and Hunter’s willingness to go out of his way, created a moment our family will never forget. Because of this experience, Joe’s Garage will forever have a special place in our hearts. Wherever we see a Joe’s Garage in the world, we’ll be loyal supporters — and our daughter will too. “We had an amazing time at the cafe. The manager was very helpful with my questions and very accommodating with our requests. The friendly Manager recommended the Chef's Salmon Pasta. And it was absolutely delicious!! The menu looks amazing with loads of unique take on our regular dishes we find in the local cafes. They also had really nice pantry food. And the dessert looked amazing! Highly recommended!”

“Good spacious cafe and bar with great cabinet selection. However, the product and display's name were inconsistent so we ordered the wrong thing (we looked at the name). Ordered a mocha but it was so bitter, not my taste personally. The staff was friendly.”

“I have been going to the Little Oven for my coffee fix during the week and Saturday morning for so many years. Muffins are yum, a couple of savory options and 3/4 sweet and scones. A selection of sandwiches, salads, quiche and vegetarian pies (you'd swear you were eating meat), sweetcorn pies mmmm. The usual selection of s/m/l coffees, Teas, Hot Chocolates all moderately priced. A coffee card stamped at each purchase and get yourself a free muffin after 5 or 10 drinks. Today Pumpkin Soup was on the menu, delicious. I've also asked for dumplings at times. Ni need to cook dinner They don't charge a surcharge on public holidays, you can ring in an order and drink while you're waiting to get on the motorway at Queenstown Rd or going for your walk or bike ride. Coffee is great, service is great, food is great, location is great. Sit down or takeaway. It's a stones throw from the Waikowai boardwalk and Temanu Reserve. Staff are friendly and cheerful. AAA+++”
