“Great hardware store awesome staff friendly and well trained average prices about the same as Mitre 10. They also offer a surprising range of unexpected items. With the new road between Queens Street and the Strand coming im very keen to see what the future holds for Wainuiomata Hammer Hardware. Recommended shop to visit for a wide range of needs. Update 12th May 2023 Earlier this year they redid the sorry looking garden by the side of the footpath with fresh bark chips and plants looks great and gave the entire area a big facelift. Its great to see the place coming back to life and alot more traffic, the strand was dieing for too long ever since United Video shutdown.”

“5 star review for the lovely young Pasifika woman (apologies I didn't catch her name but wanted to make sure she was identified) who assisted me on the 25th of June around approx 5/6pm with my dehumidifier. I brought in my dehumidifier (almost at 2 years old) due to electrical faults and concerns, wanting to check my warranty and if I could get some help. Initially I was assisted by an older lady who misunderstood my request thinking I was after a return/refund, after I had specifically asked for some help with my machine that had sparked when I plugged in & was wanting to know if it was still under warrant and/or if someone could help fix it. She then proceeded to tell me I needed a receipt even after I showed my online contact with Mitre 10 noting the staff could call the shipping store upon arrival to assist and get the receipt details as it was an online order, but she told me to ring the store myself. As I went outside to grab the machine from my car & brought it back in with my daughter, I hear the woman telling the young lady I was after a refund/return which was in fact untrue, I quickly corrected her and this is where the young lady came in and helped me out. As I purchased online there was no physical copy but she was super helpful as I showed her the email contact with Mitre 10 & online details i could provide, The young lady got the initial staff member to call up the shipping store and was just super helpful and sorted it out fast and efficient. Great customer service, attentive, listened to what I needed and I was able to get a replacement as I was still within my 2 year warranty. The difference in service was visible & I think shes a great example of perfect customer service. Thank you very much to this young lady- approachable, super helpful and super happy with the outcome.”

“Frequent visitors to this store because of how well catered it is for kids. Our 3 year old had an accident at Bunnings Petone on the weekend and the staff were so incredible - knew the process,everyone helped accordingly and followed up with a phone call later that day and a gift sent via post. “You can find the smallest of knick knacks, art & craft, simple hardware that you need there. Extremely fun place to be. It is organised enough as a place without being too 'frilly'. Baskets/trolleys for customers available as it is a big warehouse place.”

“Spent a while in here looking for options to cover the floor in the garage to convert to a home gym. Plenty of options were presented with pro's and cons. Range of pricing also discussed when discussing options fit for purpose. The staff member who served me was interested in helping come up with a solution. Easy access and parking, I went in early Saturday morning.”

“First time I have shopped at Placemakers and what a breath of fresh air compared to the utterly hopeless other large format building supply retailers in Porirua. The staff at Placemakers actually know what they are talking about, they are organized, helpful and offer customer service willingly - instead of trying to avoid customers which is what you get from staff at M10 and Bunnings. The drive through actually has room for vehicles - another improvement on the other two hopeless outfits. Placemakers is where I will be spending my DIY shopping in the future. Wish I had gone there years ago.”

“Great service, very friendly helpful guys, cheapest supplier around and I tried the 4 big brands. I brought too many bales of batts and they very happy to accept and refund me. I see in another review something about staff unwilling to move stacks around on a Saturday showed up about the same time on a Saturday on a long weekend and they quite happy to move stacks around (third stack in at the bottom so was a bit of work)”
