Great place for camping. Staff really nice, welcoming and friendly. Place has games room which the kids liked. A separate TV room. Showers n hot water and on gas so "All goods". Loads for the family to do (playground, Bowentown, Waihi beach and caves). Woolworths and New world down the road (15mins give or take) in Waihi township and Katikati. 4 square in waihi beach township. Reception does have milk and other things available. Food truck on site but open hours dependent. Great coffee and muffins in the morning and we had burgers that were the menu that night. Place is fully fitted out from swimming pools and kitchen facilities (toasters, jugs, pots n pans) and bbq facilities. Definitely on the radar when it comes to camp grounds. 5 Stars! Great place for the whole family. Camp grounds are flat. Not too far of the main highway and fantastic views when its not raining.

The holiday park has everything we could ask for — friendly staff, a hot spring pool, kayak hire, and a great location close to Bowentown and Waihi Beach. The park is maintained to an exceptionally high standard and is the cleanest holiday park we’ve ever stayed at. We would definitely come back every Christmas.

Really enjoyed our stay. All amenities were always clean, I loved how towels were left in showers and kitchens so guests could wipe down areas. Plenty spaces for parking, friendly and helpful staff. My grandys loved meeting all the other kids on the tramp. Will definitely recommend.

We stayed here for a family wedding and it couldn't have been more enjoyable. The staff and management bent over backwards for us and we could not praise them enough for there efforts. The facilities were excellent and we had the privilege of staying in one of their newly renovated units. Thoroughly enjoyed relaxing in the thermal pools after a big day out exploring the area.

Great gem not too far out of Auckland. On the edge of a tidal estuary/bay and protected. Very scenic. The campsite extends to both sides of the narrow spit of land and borders it on one side directly and has access to the other side across the road where there is a playground for youngsters. The site is pristine and incredibly well maintained. The staff are very available, approachable and friendly. We stayed in a motel that was beyond neat, clean, modern and well stocked. All linens, including swimming towels were supplied as part of the price. Fully self contained with bathroom and cooking facilities. Communal areas including kitchen are spotless and very well set up. A lot of quality for the price. The pools are fed by a natural soda spring an open at 8:30 in the morning and close at 7:30 every night. The reason for this is that both pools are emptied completely and refilled every night. The water is untreated by chemicals and contains air bubbles, which over time will collect on your skin if you stay still enough. The smaller adult only pool is 40° and the larger pool is 36°. The theme of the campsite is birds and this is evidenced all over. We found we constantly came across little bird figurines in addition to the obvious large specimens out front. Highly recommended and well worth a visit.

First time here and loved it. We took our 2 year old grandson, it was perfect. He loved the pool, and we loved how close it is to every thing. We also went on a train ride from Waihi great fun. Our cabin was lovely, nice bed, really looked after property. Will be back.

We had a fantastic stay over the weekend. The cabin were we stayed was cozy and comfortable. Shared facilities were beyond expectations and spotless. Kitchen has everything you would need including bbq. The place overall was extremely quite and scenic. It is truely a value deal, not to forget the hot pools! It would have been great if the hot pools are open till late during winter times. It closes at 7:30pm and opens at 8:30 in the morning. The staff is super friendly and always willing to help to the guests. Highly recommended!

We rented a Motel unit which far exceeded our expectations. The beds were comfortable, kitchen had everything we needed, our own bathroom, and it was all very clean. The staff were so friendly and helpful, and the kids loved the hot pool! We would highly recommend Athenree HSHP for your next camping holiday.

We had a fantastic stay here during the school holidays! The facilities were simple, but clean, and good value for money. The only disappointment was the missing air hockey table!! Which has been replaced with ping pong which was still fun! Thanks so much to the very friendly and welcoming staff, we would happily recommend this venue :-)

We had a fabulous time at Athenree Hot Springs and Holiday Park. Grant was cheerful and helpful, especially when we got stuck in a soft section of grass and we had to be pulled out. Additionally, he accommodated us in a lovely location for our second to last night in New Zealand, and was enthusiastic about the continued improvements to the park in general after we commented how phenomenal we thought it was. Seriously, the small attention to detail makes all the difference and this place has nailed it. There are custom poster boards with their logo on the base, so you know they made them personally, providing information about local birds, park etiquette, and general information. They are all fabulous. There are wee towels to wipe down surfaces when you are done in the bathroom and kitchen, so you always come into a clean dry environment, that is if the person before has read the instructions! The pools themselves were lovely to soak in, and, although not following the directions, it was nice to see so many kids having fun in the big pool. We also utilised the kitchen and the amenities were excellent. Kids were having fun on the trampoline, and driving karts around on the pathways, and it seemed that everyone was having a good time at Athenree. The only possible improvement, and nothing really to do with Athenree itself, would be some kind of walking access to the beach. So, in a nutshell, on our next trip from Canada, we would deliberately head to Athenree rather than stumble into it as we did this time. Fabulous.
