“This place has been around for years use to walk past in my teens and use to order takeaways in my younger adult days. Now in my 40s we visited from Christchurch recently and stopped in for dinner, and owner was there and greeted us (swear she hasn’t aged). Food was delicious and plentiful we couldn’t eat it all so took some home. Support your local restaurant and this lovely family from the Hutt”
“Delicious dishes especially some from local Dalian eg 三鲜焖子,stir fry cabbage, lamb, wasabi prawns, etc all very yummy. Being there a few times and still want to go.”
“Delicious and great service, prices are very compatible and good portion. Would return.”
“Best Chinese meals in town..huge portions and lots on the menu to choose from”
“Great food! The chicken wings are way better than KFC! Fish and chips are a perfect crisp! Love this takeaway!”
“Easily one of the best Chinese restaurants in Auckland. Everything is always awesome. Staff are friendly and extremely helpful and always look after you. Gotta get the duck!!”
“The food is nice but quite expensive. There’s a minimum requirement of $600 if you need to use the small chamber. Anyways the food are fresh and portion size is okay. The chef has performed good standard in preparing the dishes. My fav are the Paua and steamed fish, tender, soft and a lot of flavor. The oysters are jumbo size and are super crispy and fresh.”
“A regular restaurant, the budget friendly dishes are delicious, the prawns are crispy and flavourful, the garlic flavour is rich and absolutely addictive. Super tasty beef mince, wok heated and tender.”
“This is absolutely a hidden Gem that in Christchurch. I would say golden boat is one of the best Hong Kong restaurants in NZ. Love it! Highly recommend spring roll. So gorgeous”
“We came, we ate, and then we ate a lot more haha. SOOO many dishes today and I was honestly surprised to have so many that I could call my favourites. Some of them felt a bit like Chinese fusion such as the yellow prawn curry, but the variety all worked. What tasted like bbq teriyaki pork to beef with rice cakes to the sweet n sour fish, all of it would want any day. Their main dining area has loads of tables, but when you've got a group, opt for the truly private rooms in the back that either have their own toilet. Lastly, they've also got a mini fridge in these back rooms for you to grab whatever bottled drink you want and they'll count them up at the end just like a hotel room.”
“Formally Dragonboat, it was wonderful to see the restaurant open on Saturday night. Special mention for Felix, who always remembers us (and our favourite drinks). An absolute credit to the business and hospitality industry. Much loved Chinese restaurant for Asian flight crews. Very well deserved. Booking for large groups is recommended as most of the larger tables were reserved.”
“After a long day at rainbows end this place satisfied our bellies 100%. Number 18 and 19 are a solid 10/10. Would definitely go back. Duck came out sizzling with a yum as sauce and perfect veges. Pork dish was amazing too and good portion size!”
“I have eaten here multiple times. I can highly recommend the absolute home-cooked authentic Indian food available on Queen Street, at Queen Food Court: near Wakefield St. Nepalese family, the business is called BOMBAY CHINESE - but the food is very traditional home-cooked food where I am from, Bihar/Uttar Pradesh.”
“Always busy and full house restaurant. Famous with their reasonable price of lobster ($158 today). Even my North Shore's friends came to here, to have their famous lobster! But be prepared for the loudness of the busy restaurant. Everyone chatting loudly.”
“Love the service in this restaurant : I think this is a very authentic Chinese restaurant in Dunedin. There is a buffet and a la carte. The Sichuan cuisine tastes very good. The pickled fish tastes authentic. My family and I come here often. The service is also very good.”
“I've been ordering fish and chips here quite frequently and I can't stop coming back, the food is just delicious and the food is ready much much faster than other takeaway shops, amazing food and amazing service and even better prices. :)”
“Great value of my money! The big size can easily feed two ppl. Batter fish is fresh and crunchy. If you want to eat healthy, choose broccoli and pan-fried chicken. If you like spicy, don’t forget the chilly oil which is the game changer.”
“I used to skip this restaurant because of its low rating, but it completely surprised me — I was wrong! This is my second time trying their dim sum, and I felt compelled to write a review. The portions are generous with plenty of fillings, and everything tastes fresh and absolutely delicious. The salted egg yolk custard bun is a must-try, and the polo char siew bun were tasty. ( Sorry, the photos of the buns weren’t attached.)”
“Every time I order the egg fu Yong and a $14 pack, it's always delicious. Close to where I stay and very friendly.”
“3 big scoops of chip for $5, deep fried chicken nibbles, unbelievably crunchy, big size fish!”
“Went here to get Fish and Chips for dinner. I ordered some fish, chips and a hot dog. Everything was cooked perfectly and was not greasy at all. I also really liked how the hot dog came of a stick. Overall I will definitely come back to get fish and chips.”
“A hidden gem right in the heart of the city. You’ll miss it easily as it sits on the 1st floor and only noticeable from the menu and sign board which leads you up a flight of stairs. This place has been around for such a long time and it used to be a haunt with my mates during our uni days which was a couple of decades ago! A great selection of food and they don’t disappoint. What I’m impressed is that the consistency is still the same from day 1 and portion sizing is generous. They have a toilet available but you’ll need a key behind the counter and it comes with a super large keychain! Since nothing much has changed, the place is slightly run down and would definitely benefit from a little makeover.”
“Service was lovely, ensured we have a big enough table to accommodate a baby, a pre schooler and 4 adults. Food was tasty and fresh, very well priced for the area.”
The kitchen at London fish & chips takes a simple, bistro‑style path and lets the food speak. Portions are generous yet well judged. The team keeps things friendly and organised. Pricing lines up with the offer.
“Great atmosphere. Fast and efficient service with hot, fresh and tasty meals with lots of options to choose from The managers Walter,Daisy and server Johnny are very attentive and welcoming. Jack at the bar was knowledgeable and helped us choose a great NZ wine. We will be back!”
“We went to The Taste of China for dinner with friends, and the food was the best I have ever had. I had the Braised Beef Brisket with Potatoes and Rice that came with complimentary chicken soup. The beef was so delicious, soft, and fatty, which made it super flavorful. The potatoes were delicious as well, and I will definitely be coming back for more. The only thing I will say is that although I ordered at the same time as my friend and had a very similar dish in terms of ingredients and size, mine still arrived more than 15 minutes after theirs did, which was slightly annoying as we were pressed for time. The meal I chose was $21, which is more than I would normally spend, but I got so much meat that it felt like it was really worth the price. So other than the long wait for food, this is a great place and I now have a new favorite meal!”
“Ty Deserves a McRaise! You know, I’m not usually one for writing reviews like this but hey after my experience today I had no choice. The new manager Ty is an absolute legend. You can tell he runs the place like it’s a five star restaurant. He is friendly, efficient and very organised. I ordered a Happy Meal from McDonalds, but I can safely say it wasn’t the cheeseburger or the toy making me happy it was Ty. Honestly, if I had it my way I would put Ty’s face on the Happy Meal. I dined in, but what I really wanted was to take Ty out. Amazing experience really, will come again. Ty, if you are reading this, never leave! You are the McHero we didn’t know we needed.”
