A hidden gem right in the heart of the city. You’ll miss it easily as it sits on the 1st floor and only noticeable from the menu and sign board which leads you up a flight of stairs. This place has been around for such a long time and it used to be a haunt with my mates during our uni days which was a couple of decades ago! A great selection of food and they don’t disappoint. What I’m impressed is that the consistency is still the same from day 1 and portion sizing is generous. They have a toilet available but you’ll need a key behind the counter and it comes with a super large keychain! Since nothing much has changed, the place is slightly run down and would definitely benefit from a little makeover.

The food here unfortunately isn’t as good as it used to be. I’ve been ordering the same dish for over 10 years so I can tell if the flavours and quality has changed. I started to notice the decline a few months ago but decided to give it a try again. Number 7 with fried rice is my go to. They charge an extra 4.2 dollars for the rice to be fried rice. The fried rice was all clumped up and it was cold on the bottom. It barely had any eggs, and it charged me 4.2 dollars. They changed soup as well, it’s not as flavourful now. The chicken was ok. But the chef has definitely changed since the fried rice is only egg and rice so I’m surprised they managed to mess it up. The fried rice no longer has that Wok Hei which is very important in a fried rice.

Just randomly chose this place for lunch. It’s legit amazing. The basic chicken soup is mind blowing good. We also had the char keow teow and marinated chicken rice. Both amazing.

I recently had an exceptional dining experience at The Oaks. The warm and inviting atmosphere, attentive service, and delectable cuisine made it truly outstanding. From the knowledgeable waitstaff to the unique authentic dishes, each bite was a symphony of flavours. The Nasi Goreng was a revelation, combining curry in a harmonious blend. The nostalgic and charming ambiance added to the overall experience. I highly recommend The Oaks for anyone seeking a nostalgic dining experience. It's a true gem in the city.

This place hasn't changed in years. They surely could do with a coat of paint and new carpeting at least. Food was acceptable but used to be much better. I ordered sweet & sour pork and the battered pork pieces were a bit burnt, as if they were heated up in a pan before mixing with the source. I truly like this place and used to be my lunch spot back when I worked in town. Since my last visit, I might give it some time before returning, sorry.

When I first came here I really enjoyed the meal, but now prices have gone up but the portions seem smaller, I left still hungry after spending $35 which shouldn't be the case. Probably won't come here much anymore unless the portion sizes get bigger, the food had a nice taste, I was unimpressed by the fried chicken pieces they were dry cheap chicken drums and wings 4 pieces I thought it was going to be boneless chicken pieces. Maybe they should clarify this on the menu. The wonton soup flavour Is delicious.. just again such a small portion for a high price... I'm talking about the tomyum soup with rice and even the sweet n sour pork on rice... need to give more rice too.

The food and customer service is really good. And the window view after a long day with authentic taste food is what i really wanted. The soup is so good. And would like to visit again.

Customer service was alright. Definitely good for a cheap quick dinner, not for the fancy night outs. Food was your fairly average Asian cuisine. The Singaporean noodles were ok. Pretty filling. Laksa was slightly above average (definitely have had better). Mi goreng was fairly average. Spring rolls I think was the highlight (lol). Fried chicken - nope. Just no. Too dry and no flavour.
