Great place to sit n watch trams & city life. Friendly staff and comfy couches. The $8 scones were dry and disappointing. Used all the butter they came with to eat them.

Great food and really friendly staff. We had a Korean burger which was divine and a Wagu burger which was also perfectly delicious. Great chips. Not oily but very crisp. And most of all great coffee.

This place is absolutely incredible! The croissants are to die for and the coffee is excellent. I can’t believe the reviews aren’t higher! Lovely staff and space and a very big breakfast for the build your own option! Also gluten free and vegan options too.

I visited this quaint part of Christchurch while staying in the central city area and needed a place to grab a coffee to kickstart my day and get some work done. There are other cafΓ© options, but they are a little further away. Foundation CafΓ© is located on the ground floor of the library, making it easy to pop by for a quick break while you browse or get some work done. We came here around 9 am on a Thursday and were pleased with the options on offer. My only gripe was that the items were quite pricey for their portion size. The drinks were quite nice, with no complaints there. We got a hot chocolate with oat milk and a mocha. They were nicely presented. We also got some sweets from their cabinet and found them to be a bit too sweet, but I could see the appeal if you have a sweet tooth. I got a cookie, which was quite a mouthful for a cookie. I was expecting it to be more like a donut, and the staff didn’t seem entirely sure about it either when I asked. Not a bad option if you are working in the library or passing by. There are other options that are more exciting and a little cheaper in the area. Their service was pretty quick, so I was happy about that.

A Hidden Gem- Foundation Cafe in the Library – Fresh, Spacious & Welcoming! Foundation Cafe is a lovely spot tucked inside the library β€” spacious, bright, and full of charm. I was really impressed by the food: the mashed avocado was perfectly seasoned, and the soup was warm and flavorful, just what I needed. The coffee is excellent β€” smooth and rich β€” and the staff are super friendly and welcoming. The space is large and comfortable, making it a great place not only for relaxing or studying, but also perfect for families or groups to gather. It’s such a rare find inside a library β€” highly recommended!

I caught the bus into town JUST to come to this cafΓ©. Such a lovely interior, great food, very lovely staff and two registers so you are served fast. Scone and hot chocolate came in good time. It is a busy environment but in a good way! Lovely soft French music playing in the background, great big windows so you can see Cathedral Square and surrounding area. I did some crochet while having my meal and it was a really lovely afternoon. I will definitely come again, thank you so much!! :-)

What a fabulous location with a menu to die for! Loads of options for all your dietary needs & lovely service from all staff! Fast service despite being very busy & made a drink for my friend that was not on the menu a β€˜London fog’. I enjoyed my long black with cream (no extra charge for the cream) so much I forgot to snap a photo but check out the cabinet selection! I’ll be back to try the food - my friend had a pasta salad that was creamy & delicious & they have fresh salads every day! Winning!

I have been to the cafΓ© a few times, not always by choice but because it is at a convenient location. They are child friendly and my kids enjoy being in there. Food is good but a bit overpriced compared to other cafΓ©s. People are lovely and mostly get orders correct. I find that when you double check what you receive helps you get your order. They have great music but bit loud as we couldn't hear our companions speak. I would go back for a drink but would rather takeaway.

A great location for lunch in the centre of Christchurch. Well prepared and tasty variety of sandwiches, cakes, and drinks. Unfortunately, they didn’t do a good job of delivering the food to our table, but instead tried to deliver each of our plates to other patrons by mistake, until they eventually found our table.
