“The hostel is very centrally located in Auckland CBD, making it convenient for sightseeing, public transport and walking to many spots. Many reviewers highlight the staff as helpful and friendly. One site noted: “Staff is really helpful and kind… value honestly you will get what you pay.” According to the hostel’s website, there are large shared kitchens, lounge/TV room, free high-speed WiFi, parking availability. Many travellers say that if you are staying only a few nights and are budget-conscious, it “does the trick”. From reviews: “It was ok but you got what you paid for. … close to city centre and affordable.”
“5* :D Lovely home to come and stay on a quiet street. With nice scenic walks nearby for the hot summer evenings. Matthew was very helpful for ideas and how to get to places while we stayed in Auckland.”
“Excellent place to stay. Our host was extremely helpful.”
“I’ve booked a stay with Ascotia now several times previously and my experience staying with them was always very positive, their rooms are nice and always cleaned immaculately. Considering the price they are an extremely affordable option and my go to if ever I’m needing a hotel room in the CBD. They are conveniently located within a short walking distance to many ammenities. Short walking distance from both Queen street area as well as Kroad area. If anybody is seeking an affordable option for accommodation they would always be my first recommendation! ☺️”
“Sufficient for staying a night or two. Central tobeverything in yhe cbd. Service is okay, desk manned continuously although they don't say much when you are coming and going. Studio room is small bit sufficient. I don't like that you have to step up to go into the small bathroom, will be a trip hazard during the night. Good price and good value though.”
“Good location, nice service, I would highly recommend”
“We had a great stay at VR Auckland City. The service was awesome, and the staff were very easy to communicate with requests like parking were handled quickly and smoothly. The room was comfortable, and the overall experience was truly enjoyable. Highly recommended, and we’ll definitely stay here again the next time we’re in Auckland!”
“Beautiful place to stay. Very clean friendly and accommodating”
“A well run lodge. You need things like sheets, blankets, towels, toiletpaper and cooking utensils are all needed. Some rooms have showers and toilets while other single ones don't. However there are communal showers and cooking facilities. I have been here 4yrs and find it comfortable.”
“We got there super late at night but we're greeted with absolutely kindness and helpfulness. Room was very clean, well laid out as someone else has mentioned and affordable. Best part, the bed was SO comfy! Would definitely stay again if need be.”
“Not quite the ocean views but a comfortable overnight.”
“Looks like a great place nice and clean”
“This apartment has a great location, one side look to the city pink path and motorway, can see Auckland seaview, sky city tower.”
“I have never stayed in a self-catering 3-star hotel as beautiful and tranquil as this one. The house layout is perfect for more than one family, with bedrooms downstairs and a large open kitchen/entertaining area upstairs. We were lucky to have amazing weather most evenings, which allowed us to enjoy dinner outside. The venue has outdoor seating and a large dining table. The venue's biggest selling point is its stunning view of Enclosure Bay, which changes dramatically with the tides. At low tide, it was a great experience for the kids to explore the rock pools, while at high tide, it provided a protected bay to swim in. I recommend wearing water shoes, as there are many rocks. Overall, this is a fantastic venue with many nearby attractions on the island to keep you busy, such as Stony Batter, Man O' War, and various Art Trails.”
“Brand new. Very clean. Nice people. I enjoyed my stay a lot.”
“great accommodations and really pretty”
“Very good customer service with bed down service. Internet offered, with pool and spa pool. Basic looking is a plus... Two entrances car parking available on site”
