“I keep forgetting to take pictures before I eat because it’s THAT DAMN GOOD! Not only that but the service is above and beyond what’s expected. Every time I’ve gone in I’ve always been greeted with a smile from the male owner. Last time me and my partner came here for food there was a small mistake which meant my partner couldn’t eat it. We asked if we could get another made and the owner was very apologetic and more than happy to fix the mistake. Not only that but he let me (a big eater) eat the original. When we came back a week later for another meal he remembered my partners correct order and apologised again. Extremely friendly staff, fantastic food which all adds to the fantastic experience. Thank you a lot!!”

The previous visit was not as good - not enough place settings, even after asking; we had water glasses but no water, until we asked for it; and we seemed to be a blind spot for the waiter. “We had a wonderful meal at Istana Malaysia in Wellington. We ordered the beef rendang, nasi goreng, and lamb murtabak, and every dish was delicious—flavorful, well-cooked, and authentic. There are an excellent variety of foods to choose from, though some dishes like the sweet and sour pork are not as tasty as from other Chinese restaurants. The service is very fast and the restaurant is clean and tidy. However the prices are quite steep without 1st table - $35 for the pork belly and $5 for a small bowl of rice.”

Right opposite to town center with plenty of free parking on street. The staff recommended great dishes and clean tidy place even during busy peak hours. “We meet up here with friends from school days and early working life a few times a year. It's always a pleasure as the staff are very welcoming and friendly and the food is lovely. There is some outdoor seating and lots of inside seating. You can order off the menu or have cabinet food, or have just a coffee/drink if that's what you're wanting. I lived in Te Aroha West for about 8 years till I was 9, and remember the old shops etc so it's a trip down memory lane for me. Some pics of various meals attached.”
