I personally enjoy their group classes, as they’re always led by enthusiastic and supportive instructors who make it easy to stay motivated. From yoga to high-intensity interval training (HIIT), the variety of classes available means you can mix things up and keep your workouts interesting. Beyond fitness, the YMCA in Hamilton is great for families and people of all ages. The swimming pool is another standout feature. It's well-maintained, and I love that it’s suitable for both casual swimmers and those who want to focus on fitness. Plus, there are a variety of programs for kids, including swimming lessons, sports camps, and after-school care, making it an ideal place for families to stay active together. What really stands out to me about the YMCA is the sense of community. The staff are always friendly, welcoming, and dedicated to creating a positive environment. “They have the regular bubble/iced teas on the menu, but they have a good selection of loose leaf tea for sale as well. I picked up a box of gaba oolong which I've only ever seen on taiwan-based online stores (usually very expensive), very reasonably priced as well.”

“I love this pool, I always come here when I can. The kids love swimming in the different sized pools. We always have fun can't wait to come here again soon. I definitely recommend coming here it's a great place for all ages with swim equipment that you can buy at the front desk like googles, swim wear, and water toys for the kids. I've also heard that there's a gym, but haven't had a look even tho I've been going here for years.”

“My daughter has been in BS Fendalton for almost a year. She is always happy staying in the center and getting more and more confidence in social skills and preparation for school. As a parent, we are also quite happy to see our child playing, eating and learning all well in here. We are always comfortable to get in touch with any teacher in the center. The four-year group which is a program for preschoolers ready to school, is running so well and my daughter keeps talking about it to us every time she learns new stuff. There are also lots of outside-centre activities each week, from which Children can get chances to be closer to nature and our community. We really recommend families to have their children in here if they are looking for a center nearby.”

“Loved this club from a young age. Great atmosphere at the after matches and the premier rugby team is doing good to. It has cricket and netball teams as well as rugby for all ages. Big spacious club rooms that can be hired out for functions”

“Friendly local store with staff who truly cares about customers needs! Highly recommended. Went to Warehouse Stationery down the road to look for some stationery, stand up desk and chair mat, walked around for ages looking for staff and nobody was able to help me, staff didn’t take the time or seem interested to help at all. THEN I came to Stationery City and the QUALITY of service received was absolutely excellent! Prices were great too. They also provided postal services there, special thanks to Eric who was very helpful and friendly. It truly shows the difference between a large corporate and a local store who really cares about their customers.”

“My two children both attended Freemans Bay Kindergarten from the ages of 3 through to 5. The staff there are outstanding and very professional when it comes to nurturing and guiding the children on their early learning journey. While the philosophy is based around learning through play, there is also a kind of gentle discipline and responsibility learning applied by the daily routine which included good hygiene, organising one’s own things and tidying up themselves after a hard day of play. Freemans Bay Kindergarten also encourages and somewhat embraces a collaborative approach with parents which I really appreciated. There were so many learning opportunities created by countless internal projects, outside trips and performances by various local talents that I found it easy to expand on those learning experiences at home thereby increasing the educational impact of the Kindergarten’s initiatives. For me a Kindergarten (as opposed to a Childcare Centre), is all about preparing children for School and I can say without any hesitation Freeman’s Bay Kindergarten did that for my 2 Children exceptionally well.”

“Played my first round of golf in New Zealand here. The course was in good shape. I birdied the first hole and knew then and there that the course was gonna win that day. I know better than to birdie #1. All in all, I'd recommend it to anyone. I know I'll be back the next time I come here.”

“Had my hair done, for free. It took a while, My hair being so long, but the student that styled my hair was very nice, and checked with her tutor through the process. My hair is more manageable now than it was before, and my family ans acquaintances like it as well as Me. Thank you Abbey, and Toi oho mai for the free haircut.”

“Small entry fee for a clean and pleasant water temp. Kids loved it to bits during the school holidays. Bombs are allowed in the designated lane.”

“Pools are nice i wish the lane pool was warmer like i would be happier if it was like 28C or 29C also it would be good if they would add a bulk head in the main pool as its 33M and i prefer 50M and 25M Pools would love to see it become an indoor pool sometime in the future”

“Love this gym . The instructors know what they are doing and are super keen to help if needed . The equipment range is slowly getting better too . It’s definitely an older persons gym , I would say majority are 40 plus . But all the members are respectful with the equipment, wipe everything down and put things away . There are lots of fantastic classes as well.”

“Definitely a must to check out if your in the heart of the city, was designed for the rugby World Cup but has since been transformed in a rec centre and exhibition centre as well. Was attacked by a tornado recently so have been sent in to do repair work will post more pics in time for update”
