The teachers are not vetted thoroughly. Some are prejudiced and some bring out their abuses that are not overtly abusive but fall under the list of 11 common verbal abuses. Imagine paying to get abused. Horrible. Better to avoid. Especially the top paying international students who are subsidizing education for local citizens (who pay less for the same course of study).

Unitec is a vocational school that claims to teach practical skills, but most of the teachers have little knowledge of the current industry. The lessons they taught were outdated, and useful software and skills commonly used in the industry weren’t covered at all — even though they had promised to teach everything before you applied to this school. My study experience at Unitec involved dealing with an overwhelming workload every semester. Regardless of their own skill levels, the teachers were unreasonably demanding. Watching YouTube and teaching myself became routine. Because of Unitec’s bad reputation, massive funding cuts, and corruption, the support they provided to students was very limited. I had to spend a huge amount of money every year to buy or subscribe to essential software and online courses to keep up with industry standards. But if I can teach myself, why bother going to Unitec? If you can find a job and gain experience, please avoid Unitec — they won’t teach you anything. You’ll learn far more practical skills through YouTube and online courses created by real professionals. Unitec is a joke.

I’m writing to express my frustration and concern regarding the current parking situation at Unitec. The number of fines issued — often due to simple forgetfulness or confusion — has become unreasonable and is having a real impact on students. Many of us have been unable to attend classes because of outstanding fines or breach notices that were sent to the wrong address. It’s disheartening to be penalised so heavily for what are often honest mistakes, especially when we are already paying course fees and simply trying to access our studies. The parking system should support students, not discourage attendance or add financial stress. A fairer system — such as a grace period or the option to pay the standard $3 daily rate when a mistake occurs — would make a significant difference. The company Stellar you have hired has no sympathy, they are like robots who only have one goal in mind and that is to collect money. I hope this feedback is taken seriously, as the current setup feels unfair and counterproductive for students who are doing their best to meet their study commitments

A word of caution if you are considering their Bachelor of Construction programme: whether you will successfully graduate depends heavily on your luck. If you are assigned a decent and helpful supervisor for one of the final courses, good on you. If not, be prepared to pay for that class again and come back next year:)

I am truly impressed with the college and the dedication shown by its lecturers. Each instructor goes above and beyond to ensure that every student receives personalized attention and support. Their commitment to understanding individual learning needs creates a nurturing and encouraging environment. The quality of knowledge imparted here is outstanding. Lecturers are not only experts in their fields but also passionate about teaching, which makes learning engaging and effective. They use clear explanations, practical examples, and interactive methods that help students grasp complex concepts with ease. Overall, this college stands out for its excellent faculty who genuinely care about student success and provide top-notch education. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a supportive and enriching academic experience.

It is very disappointing that after spending tens of thousands of dollars studying with them, they are not prepared to venture out of their templated frameworks to help an ex-student obtain documents that would allow them to enrol in a post-graduate degree at another institute. Their responses have all felt scripted, and there is no avenue to speak to anyone that could help, just constant reference to their predetermined timeframes and responses. Even after taking it upon myself to outline potential other avenues to open up correspondence between the two institutes so that I did not miss out on this opportunity, their response was, "We are sorry for the missed opportunity regarding your studies at ..., and I can understand the frustration this may have caused. If you would like to follow up with your refund, please email the fees department mentioned above, and they will be able to advise."

I know they are going to delete my review but people please please do not join this college. My sister’s bloody corrupt agent pushed her in this college without her consent and then she tried to change it but college made it next to impossible to change. The teachers are all Asians who literally have zero knowledge of English language and whole staff is Asians too..students have no fix day or time of the classes. Whole faculty and teachers can just randomly just change any day or time for the classes. If one week it’s Monday Tuesday,Friday and next week it can be Tuesday,Thursday and Friday. It can be 10 am to 12 pm class. It can be 1 pm to 8:30 pm class as well. They don’t even try to understand how students(especially females)will travel in night time and coming from other cities. They intimidate them by saying they can tell on immigration about them. The students who are allowed to work 20 hours can’t find jobs due to stupid hours of Unitec. For Christmas break where students are allowed to work full time in 8 weeks periods in other schools or college, this Unitec only gave 1 week off in which students still had to do online classes. They push you to come to college even if state of emergency was declared in Auckland due to flooding and no transportation available. Even though students have fully paid college fees they are still billing them saying they are due for another fees. The college and whole team is corrupt,May be couple of them are right but at the moment it is torture for the students. Worst college ever, intimidating students, they are so scared of them that they don’t even want to complain. Please please don’t send anyone here.

I've enjoyed being a part of the campus on and off for the past 14 years as a student and as a support person for others. Great professional team, beautiful attitude to communicate with, inclusive, diverse academic environment.
