“Lovely Xinjiang style food in Dominion Rd. Stopped in for lunch and it didn't disappoint. Had me thinking of my time working in China with lovely homemade yoghurt drink and tasty lamb kebabs. Definitely recommend this place, great food and service in a cosy little shop. Decor is simple, but it's the food that counts.”
“I had dinner here tonight and was blown away by the food. Everything was full of flavor and beautifully prepared, but the dumplings stood out as some of the best I’ve ever had – soft, perfectly cooked, and packed with taste. The service was friendly, the atmosphere warm, and the menu offered plenty of authentic options. Highly recommended – a must-visit if you enjoy great Chinese cuisine!”
“This Thai restaurant is right near my home, and I can't believe I had never tried it before! I decided to give it a shot over the weekend and was surprised to find it quite busy. I ordered a **Prawn Nasi Goreng**—the portion was huge, and the rice was packed tightly into the bowl. It was super fragrant! I also got the **Crispy Pork Belly**—the pieces were large, and the sauce mixed with the fried rice was incredibly delicious. Finally, I ordered a snack: **Satay Skewers**—chicken skewers coated in rich satay peanut sauce, absolutely amazing! The restaurant even offers a **keto menu**, so it's great for those on a diet or into fitness. I'll definitely be going back again!”
“Had such a lovely experience dining here. If you’re craving classic Taiwanese dishes, this is the best by far, in Akl. The stinky tofu was similar to the night market offerings in TW. Other classics we tried were beef noodle soup, 3 cup chicken, pork braised noodles etc. Delicious! Service is great too. Will be coming back again!”
“Massive servings with great quality food! Really happy will be a repeat customer”
“Tasty food and super friendly service with generous portions”
“Every dish was divine. The menu is super vegetarian and vegan friendly and the staff are welcoming.”
“Hands down favourite dumplings in the whole wide world has to be the pork and chive in spicy sauce. Their ‘hot’ is not to be underestimated, but even though it burns a little for me it’s well worth it. Dan dan noodles a nice accompaniment to the dumplings but not a must. Portion sizes are huge so always go for the Small if in doubt. Fell in love with the original Basu Lounge in Takapuna but I really rate their Browns Bay location more.”
“Incredible value and huge portions! The food is delicious and there's plenty of options. The free soup counter is an extra bonus. I wish I lived nearby and could come eat here all the time! The sticky rice stuffed sausage was a bit sweet for my tastes, but the portions were still great. They don't offer stinky tofu as an individual dish- it's only included in hotpot orders. Parking is a bit difficult during peak meal hours. Excellent, excellent value!”
“Delicious Satay lamb stir fry noodles $22. Excellent customer service. Prodominately Chinese themed menu and restaurant. Large portions, delicious hot temperature food.”
“I rate this as the best Chinese takeaways I’ve ever tasted. The sweet and sour pork as well as the chow mein are my favorite dishes. Their service is excellent and they operated safely through Covid lockdown. I hope they become available on Uber Eats one day.”
“This Auckland spot has some amazing Chinese food! The rice noodle rolls are so chewy and the sauce is delicious. I'll definitely be coming back to try the other flavors. And let me tell you, the polo bun and egg tarts were a hit - they disappeared in no time! I also grabbed some frozen BBQ pork buns to take home - there are so many savory and sweet flavors to choose from. Plus, the restaurant has plenty of parking, it's clean and the staff are super friendly.”
“I had the best orange chicken of my life today — thank you to the amazing team at Joe’s Cook for the delicious food and exceptional service.”
“This place has the best food I’ve had in Wellington. The flavours are amazing and the portions are gigantic. The staff are really nice and there’s a lot to choose from. It came out very quickly”
“The place is really lovely, the food is exceptional, and the staff are super kind! Highly recommended!”
“Went here for my mum's birthday today and was very impressed by the food. Up there with the best Cantonese style food in Wellington. Really varied menu with some unique dishes that I haven't seen on menus before. We ordered a lot of dishes and every dish was fresh and delicious. Highlights were the roast pork, beef with ginger and spring onion, stuffed eggplant and pepper, fried dumplings and the chicken stuffed with shrimp paste and topped with almonds. Can't wait to come back and try the soups.”
“We grabbed pork chow mein, fish, chips, and combination burger. All aspects were great. Some of the best chips I’ve had in a long while. Combination burger had egg, cheese, and pineapple. Chow mein did us for two meals. Great feed.”
“Great food and setting. Food tasty, sauce on Korean chicken bao too spicy hot for me & needs to be indicated. The dumplings were delicious.”
“Awesome huge servings of great tasting food. 1 order was easily enough for 2 people. During winter the wait is very cold.”
Templeton Takeaways runs with a classic fish‑and‑chips menu and a relaxed pace. Fish lands crisp with light batter and chips stay tidy. A family‑friendly feel comes through naturally. The team keeps things friendly and organised.
“Had a great meal here. Efficient, friendly staff. Generous portions. I had enough to ask for a take away container.”
“I ordered the 3-roast meat combination (roast duck, roast pork and BBQ pork) and they were amazing! They cost me $25, which was reasonable given the amount I got (the gap in pic was because we'd indulged before snapping the pic). Agreed with the other reviewers, a perfect place for a quick scrumptious takeaway, and the owners were also courteous and friendly!”
“Great service, great food. Gourmet burgers are amazing. Their version of sweet & sour pork is next level.”

“I'm typing this review in a state close to food coma. My friend and I tried the “Let’s Eat” experience at Mekong Buffalo, and it was fantastic! You just let the chef choose for you (after checking for anything you don’t like), and the wonderful dishes just keep coming. The portions were generous, starting with a big platter of starters, and every course was packed with flavor. The service was excellent: attentive and friendly, but never too much. If you’re in Rotorua and enjoy Asian food, this is a must-try. Highly recommend!”
