“Hidden gem in Gordonton! The staff are amazing, helpful, and friendly, and the food is consistently delicious! What more could you ask for? Although every extra thing I ask for, or add to, is never too much of a request and everyone is happy to help. The coffee is always A++ too!”
“We meet up here with friends from school days and early working life a few times a year. It's always a pleasure as the staff are very welcoming and friendly and the food is lovely. There is some outdoor seating and lots of inside seating. You can order off the menu or have cabinet food, or have just a coffee/drink if that's what you're wanting. I lived in Te Aroha West for about 8 years till I was 9, and remember the old shops etc so it's a trip down memory lane for me. Some pics of various meals attached.”
Paasha Turkish Cafe runs with a kebab and pita menu and an easy pace. Plates offer plenty without weighing things down. Wait times are contained even when busy. Wraps hold together with fresh salads and steady sauces.
The kitchen at Alley Cats Cafe takes a classic fish-and-chips path and lets the food speak. Coffee pours are consistent and well textured. Portions suit sharing without losing balance. Service stays present without fuss.

“Absolutely love Café Frans! The coffee is always perfect, the food fresh and delicious, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. It’s my go-to spot for a relaxing breakfast or a quick coffee . Highly recommended!”
“Accidently stumbled across this cafe. Got a pie and it was the best pie I have ever had from the 1st bite to the last. The pastry was fluffy the flling full of flavour, I can see why they have so many awards for their pies. Definitely going back.”
“Best pizzas I’ve had in a long time and drunk me is very critical. 10/10 recommend and will definitely be going back.!”
“Had a delicious, generous pastrami sandwich, loaded with filling, and a huge chai latte, for $15. Really nice service and friendly staff. I'd definitely come back again. And order the same meal. They've even got gf options”
“Good comms & service. Didn't have the item in stock but they offered alternative or in my case kept the order and delivered the stock reliably when it came in.”

“What seems to be your standard bakery is easily one of hawkesbay best pie stops had a beautiful steak and mushroom cheese pie great pastry and good gravy all for $5 which is the most unbelievable part will definitely be comming back here again”
“Actually the best pie I've had in my life. The pies from here is actually world class. The way the pie filling is done, the sauce, the blend it's all balanced to perfection. The generosity on the fillings is next level. And yet the pastry is light and fluffy too. I can see how they have won many pie comps now. Well worth the trip out for Even the ones I took away, when reheated in the oven still tastes amazing just like the original shop”
“Ordered egg benedict and matcha with oat milk, awesome taste and great value for money. Mushrooms were sauteed and fried in sweet sauce which was different than salty caramelized which I like more, but still over all great value and made to perfection by chef.”
The kitchen at Lake Waihola Cafe & Bar takes a classic fish-and-chips path and lets the food speak. Fish is cooked to a clean crunch and chips stay tidy. Sides support without crowding the star. Front‑of‑house runs with calm, helpful energy.
“Friendly staff, good prices on pie for the island. Try the steak, cheese, and jalapeño! Not too spicy for most and really a fabulous flavour combo. Yum!”
“Update: its been a couple of yesrs since I first reviewed here. It feels like it maybe has new ownership. The cooked menu is offering all options now. Staff are still friendly, service, cabinet and coffee are good. Under new management since last time I was here. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Staple bakery items are still available but quite a few cooked menu items are no longer available. The coffee is now by Allpress, but the coffee training needs some work as my coffee was poorly extracted, the texture light and watery and the milk texture had too much air.”
“a good working cafe for tradies”
“It wasn't too busy, food was presented well and tasted so good. Coffee was piping hot and delicious. Didn't have fresh fruit juice only bottled juices.”
“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Amazing Experience at Area 51 - Auckland Adventure Park Our recent visit to Area 51 at Auckland Adventure Park was nothing short of fantastic! From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Check-in was seamless, and the staff efficiently sorted out our wristbands. We appreciated that each type of pass was color-coded, making it easy to differentiate between different activities—such a thoughtful and organized system! The food at the reception was surprisingly good and well-priced. There was a great selection for both adults and kids. We especially loved the kids’ meal options, which came with drinks—perfect for families looking to grab a quick bite before heading off for more adventure. It wasn’t just about convenience; the food was delicious too! From the reception, you can either head down to the lower part of the park, where there’s a fun kids’ playground, or make your way up to the bus stop for the ride up the hill. The Mitsubishi Rosa bus ride was comfortable, offering a scenic route to the upper part of the park. Up there, the real adventure begins—luge rides, the exhilarating zip line, and the thrilling Shooting Star! One thing that stood out to us was the atmosphere. Right outside the reception, there’s a luge car on display along with a price list for each of the activities, which really adds to the excitement and anticipation. Plus, there’s a huge screen showcasing all the activities the park offers. It’s a clever way to get everyone hyped up and makes it easy to plan your day. The park is well-organized, clean, and full of fun activities for everyone. Whether you’re with family or friends, there’s something for every age group. We’ll definitely be returning, and we highly recommend Area 51 at Auckland Adventure Park to anyone looking for a thrilling adventure!”
