“- Welcoming and patient staff. It was our first time and the lady waited until we made up our minds. - Halloumi cheese sandwich. It was fresh and the sauce on top wasn´t spicy whatsoever. Good option to share. - Granola bowl. Surprised me a lot because because it was a huge portion (of granola). However, it came with just a tiny cup of yougurt, some milk, banana and strawberry jam. In my opinion, the should add an extra portion of yogurt. - 1 restroom available. - Great atmosphere. Good place to read. - Outdor tables are available.”

“I'm vision impaired and struggled to read their menu (Very small print with fancy font). It's very busy and I found it difficult to read what they had. It also says online that they make vegan Mac n cheese etc however when I asked they only had soups and fresh sandwiches, tacos etc. The chipotle taco, soup and sandwich I had on two separate occasions were delicious and the fact they cater for vegans and vegetarians is amazing. Seems alternative eating has gone backwards everytime I visit NZ however this place is amazing.”

Decided to try food, very reasonable prices compared to cafs in the city but there was no compromise on quality. Wicked stoked we came here, this place is awesome. “Ordered the Great Big Breakfast for brunch today. Definitely hit the spot, satisfying my hunger pains after a big gym session. Scrambled eggs (extra eggs) cooked to perfection. Breakfast sausage full of flavor, hash brown golden and crunchy. Bacon cooked just right. Staff very friendly and welcoming. The Cafe had a nice warm and homely vibe. Definitely recommend this place if your looking for somewhere nice to eat.”

“A gem of a place, super delicious coffee and incredible cakes and pastries, we wanted to try everything and got a few different bits but the caramel, pear and walnut tart was a definite stand out. We sat outside with Gus the dog and he very much enjoyed it and was very spoilt. Lovely owners and so welcoming and friendly. Thank you for having us, we will be back!”

“I recently visited Neil Cafe and bar and was truly impressed by the outstanding quality of my meal also a very reasonable price especially considering the quality of the ingredients. I had a slow cooked pork belly on mash with fresh salad. The meal was very generous in size and I was sorry when I had finished despite being unable to eat anything else cos I was very full! Seriously it's my favorite place to eat now.”

“The surroundings are austere, but the food is outstanding - if you are a meat eater (they also have a wide rage of vegetarian dishes) I would recommend the Brisket, it has a touch of aniseed, and would be my personal favourite if it wasn't for the Spicy Ribs, they make my jaw lock just thinking about them. The Orange Beef is good and the deep fried Squid is to die for. There wouldn't be a food establishment in Wellington or probably NZ where you can get great food and great service for $20 a dish. I recommend you go with a few friends, select a dish each and share - you won't be disappointed.”

“Good service and food was delicious. I hadn't realized that some of the dishes needed to be ordered in advance but our group of 7 were very happy with the dishes we were able to order tonight. They didn't have savignon (which is what I normally drink), but I tried the pinot gris and liked it, so all good.”

The atmosphere, service, food quality and cost was excellent and I will be sure at the very least to be getting my hot chocolate from there on a regular basis. “I visited this fine wee establishment today while out riding my motorbike from Cambridge to Auckland and back. What can I say... the staff were so friendly and accommodating. As I'm on a rather strict diet, I didn't eat anything, but the cabinet food and food service looked so appetising and yum. The service, well the owner should be very proud of his staff, they work with purpose and a smile... loved it!! And the atmosphere was quaint rustic charm, spot on!!
