“Although full restoration of the Municipal Building is incomplete, the Opera House, Foyer and Atrium conversion (to a fully operational function centre) restore the complex to a functional state capable of hosting large events and conferences. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and organised, willing and able to assist from planning to execution of your event. The Opera House acoustics remain world class, the upgrade has improved audience comfort while retaining its Art Deco era appeal. From a technical A/V perspective I did notice a small amount of noise from the venue power supply, but this was easily dealt with.”

“The best music venue I know. JR is an absolute legend with sound. Lucy is the best hostess and dressup officianado in the land. My second home. Great vibes, great sound, grear music, comfy couches and interesting people. Never a dull night. I love this place.”

“Delightful little theatre with very comfortable seating. The screen is a decent size and the picture is always clear. The sound can be easily understood according to my hubby and for those, like myself who have difficulty hearing, there are headsets available. I use these in place of my hearing aids. There’s a reasonable selection of drinks including wine. We have not tried the pizzas which need to be ordered 20 minutes prior to the movie. Highly recommend checking out a flick here.”

“What a fantastic show-Pricilla Queen of the desert - cast and production were top notch and the enthusiasm and energy put forward was great. Please look at either 1. Replacing the seating or 2. having them re-foamed/covered..they really were v. Uncomfortable. The seats are well past their use by date !”

“The room and hotel were wonderful. Beautiful views, large modern clean room and a very responsive staff. It was in a great location with many dining and cute shopping experiences adjacent. The staff responsive and communicative and very helpful when I had trouble making calls on my own. They also provided a guest laundry service which was necessary after biking. I would highly recommend it and would come back again.”

“The perfect place to see a movie. Cheap, affordable with a great atmosphere and the staff are super friendly. Grab a bite before or after the movie at the restaurant located in the cinema building or you can get some munchies for the movie itself. Either way it's a great local experience and my wife and I feel so privileged to have a cinema right in town.”

“I recently had this amazing platter, and it was absolutely delicious! The combination of grilled halloumi, falafel, rice, and the creamy sauces on top was just perfect — rich in flavor, fresh, and beautifully presented. The hummus and tzatziki were authentic and full of taste, and the bread was soft and warm, perfect for dipping. The manager was incredibly friendly and welcoming. He made sure everything was served fresh and checked in to see if I was enjoying my meal — a nice personal touch that made the experience even better. You can really feel the passion for good food and customer satisfaction here. Definitely a place I’d recommend to anyone looking for a hearty, flavorful Mediterranean meal and genuine hospitality. I’ll be back for sure!”

The kitchen at Opera Kitchen takes a coffee-and-cabinet path and lets the food speak. Service moves quickly through the morning rush. Music and pace keep a casual tone. Team members keep things friendly and on task.

“Fantastic service! I popped in on Sunday to speak to someone about a chair that my mother purchased - I believe it was faulty. We dealt with Tammy (who I believe was from the Hastings Store). She was brilliant to deal with, made the whole exchange process so simple, straightforward and painless. She was also extremely helpful in expediting this quickly, as our circumstances meant that time was in short supply. All the other staff were super helpful too. Can't thank you enough, Tammy, my Mum LOVES her new chair!”
