   This is a formal complaint regarding Focal Point Cinema and Cafe. I attended the cinema with my 7-year-old and 1-year-old daughter to celebrate her birthday on an otherwise quiet day when the venue was empty. After purchasing tickets, I was informed by the staff member at the counter that I was required to leave my baby change bag — containing essential items for my pēpē — at the counter. The stated reason was that patrons had previously brought in alcohol and drugs. When I insisted that I needed the bag with me to care for my baby, they reluctantly allowed it but then demanded to search it. Upon discovering two small packets of baby food (we also had taken nappies, wipes and a change of clothing), I was told I could not bring it into the cinema. This was despite the fact that none of the food options available at the counter were suitable for a child under two or for anyone with allergies to sugar or artificial additives. When I expressed my strong disagreement and explained that their policy was not family- or baby-friendly, particularly given the absence of other patrons, the staff member responded rudely and dismissively. The manager failed to intervene or resolve the issue in a professional manner. They also failed to respond to a subsequent email I sent. As a result, I requested a refund and left. I have never encountered such treatment at any other cinema, including in Napier, and find this approach unacceptable. I would not recommend Focal Point Cinema to any whānau with young children, nor would I consider returning in the future. It is a shame to have a cinema like this in our otherwise beautiful city, which my tamariki and I both love.

   I really love going to the Hastings Focal cinema and cafe it is a awesome and good place Very Polite and kind service from the staff excellent clean up fantastic yummy and delicious food popcorn etc. and I just finished watching the Special advance screening of Final Destination Bloodlines with other People and the Movie was so good I want to watch it again. HASTINGS FOCAL CINEMA AND CAFE for me is the best one Let everyone know if I was star rate I gave it a 5 if it was more it will be a Big 10 star rate for me keep up the service staff.

   Clean, tidy and well mantined theatre with comfortable seats, reasonably priced food and drinks. Cinema sound and visuals are excellent.

   Long queues to get tickets 45 min before it started,make sure you have your tickets 2 hours earlier other wise you might be disappointed. seating could be given a clean or vacuum still had popcorn from last movie. Great sound great experience. But could have closed the door to make it Abit darker.

   Unfortunately cinema wasn’t a good night out for me and my family Rest Rooms need attention the bottoms of the toilet are so filthy and no soap Floors are black Seating didn’t matter clearly as the family behind me where arguing over the seats as some other teens came in and claimed the seats We ordered a Pizza that was delivered AFTER the movie and was not worth the $22 (or something like that ) it was literally sausage and cheese on a bread not to mention BURNT the staff tried their best so customer services was about a 3 Won’t be bringing my family here again rather drive to Auckland

   Arrived on time for movie with tickets pre brought online but had to queue for 20 minutes resulting in me missing a large part of the movie. With a little more organisation from the theatre this could have easily been avoided. I JUST WANTED TO SEE THE MOVIE I HAD PAYED FOR! Would give zero stars but I can’t

   Worst cinema ever!! The cinema was unclean, bins overflowing and food all over the floor. Also staff constantly interrupted the film at least a dozen times to bring people food, incredibly noisy and disruptive. The service was rubbish, no eye contact from staff and not friendly. I’ve been to cinemas all over the world and have NEVER experienced this phenomenon… EVERYONE spoke the whole way though the bloody movie!! Literally entire groups just chatting away not even trying to used hushed tones! is this normal for New Zealand?! Everyone was sitting in whatever seat they wanted so not point pre booking a seat- staff didn’t care. When the staff kept coming in to deliver food they also were talking loudly!! Couldn’t hear throughout loads of the movie. When staff came in to deliver food they didn’t even tell the people who were taking to be quiet. Absolute shambles!! Definitely don’t waste your money here! Stay at home or go to an event cinema!

   Usually quite delightful but today received very poor service. I’m with my hubby for Guardians of the Galaxy. Was greeted with long lines and lack of staff, a rude cashier who forgot my order twice, made me wait for twenty-five minutes , ended up having to ask another worker to complete my order. He promptly told me that the rude lady was the manager???? Bad management. Staff all over the place. Not very prepared for a popular movie franchise.

   Good customer service and nice clean toilet! This cinema have the nicest sound system in nz ! Even Auckland's cinemas' sound system can't complete and not as good as this one! I will recommend this Focal Point Cinema to my relatives and friends!

   There was a large group of us that went here for morning tea today. We didn't book. The service was very fast. Food great and nicely presented. The staff were very friendly. Central location and lots of handy parking. Would happily come back here
