“Highly recommended shop, fantastic service from Hugh! I had purchased a surfboard for my son for Christmas and travelled with the boxed gift up North but threw the packaging half way to our destination (long story), only to realize when we got to the beach that I was missing the fins. Hugh replied to my distressed email within half an hour and said he would dispatch a set of fins with Post Haste. More complications arise, but Hugh went above and beyond what one would've expected, and I had one happy kid surfing at Sandy Bay!! Thank you so much, Exit Surf!”
“Rafael took 16 of us through a BJJ class as part of a Stag Do. They tailored the experience really well to a range of abilities and everyone had a great time. Would definitely recommend this as an activity in the future.”
“James and the team are just fantastic. Nothing is ever a problem, yes they can make it happen. A genuine personal touch to everything. Highly recommend.”
“Any Mahi this guy does is awesome . Great energy always great vibes. Kids adults animals doesn't matter . This guy will make sure all are so comfortable and welcomed in any space he is in!!”
“Great family owned business, reasonable prices, wide range of equipment, friendly and experienced staff and good working hours :) what more can you ask for?”
“Great to deal with, i made a mistake in an order and they resolved the matter quickly, thanks Alex. Quick responses, great service and great product. Will definitely use again. A+”
“Friendly staff and fair advices and service ! I felt confident I was getting good value for my money. If you're looking for a reliable place to repair your bike, or just advices I highly recommend this shop ! Thanks again !”
“Sofiya is a huge asset to this store. She spent at least an hour bringing us clothes for my son to try. Nothing was too much trouble. We really appreciated her help. She has a good eye and was extremely honest with her opinions and advise. Thank you See you next time we are down.”
“The Arena is a stellar day out, massive support for this place and the gameplay. Professional refs, great pre-game Briefing, a shop out front and well organised. Able to support small and large groups with equal success. 10/10 RECOMMEND”
“Went in today (Sunday 2nd Feb) to get my super trousers repaired, and the guy in the shop has one of the most OG kiwi accents I have ever heard! 'Helpful as, good as good, away laughing, a bloody good gag, we'll sort you out.' I would have loved to stay and chat all day but he had other customers to serve. Cactus is the best!”
“I used their brilliant deal where you buy a second hand bike from them and then return it at the end of your holiday (almost 3 weeks) and they buy it back for half what you paid. The bike was brilliant in very good condition and allowed me to explore Christchurch with ease. My fav place has to be Bottle Lake and the forest tracks. I didn't use the bike on a bus service but a friendly bus driver let me take a photo of my bike on the bus to show friends back home, what a fab way to take your bike further afield. Richard York UK”
“Excellent service! Staff are friendly and booking a WoF with them was a breeze.”
“Got my first board from here and I love it. Extremely nice and helpful staff”
“Amazing friendly service and specialist advice. I would highly recommend coming here for your hockey needs.”
“Ah, Cycleways Bike Shop—a true gem of the bike repair world and, apparently, a haven for stranded gravel bikes needing a bit of TLC. My visit here was not just a transaction; it was an experience of unexpected camaraderie, stellar service, and the kind of goodwill you don’t always expect right after the festive chaos of Christmas. Here’s the blow-by-blow of what went down: • The Welcome: I was greeted by a friendly American bloke, the kind who makes you feel like you’ve just entered his home rather than a shop. Polite, cheerful, and dangerously competent—this guy knew his stuff. He took my forlorn Giant SLR gravel bike under his wing, nodding knowingly as I explained its myriad woes. • The Plan: A brake bleed? Done. A new 10-speed chain cut? Sorted. Promised me I could pick it up the next day, which is either mad optimism or sheer confidence at this time of year. • The Execution: True to their word, I got the “your bike is ready” text the very next day. I shot over quicker than a downhill run, and there she was, gleaming like new (well, close enough). • The Chain: Cut perfectly—no clanking, rattling, or regretful sighs. • The Brakes: Bled and back to stopping power. A year of neglect on the trainer? Consider it forgiven. • The Derailleurs: Oh, and they went rogue here in the best way—gave both the front and rear derailleurs a tweak, just because they could. Shifting was smoother than my best race day. • The Cost: $130 for the lot, and this included some above-and-beyond touches. For post-Christmas service, that’s a steal. • The Verdict: They’re not my regular bike shop, but they’re making a compelling case to be. The combination of excellent workmanship, reasonable pricing, and downright good vibes was enough to win me over. Would I recommend them? Absolutely. If you’ve got a gravel bike—or any bike, really—that’s been sitting around, Cycleways will whip it back into shape faster than you can say “brake bleed.” Final thoughts: They’re a good lot. Pop in if you want proper service without the faff.”
“Fantastic friendly professional service.”
“Probably the best customer service I've ever had. The owner and the staff that I talk to all live and breathe the sports they sell, so they know their stuff and most of the gear in house is what they like to ride, wear or use for maintenance, so you know you're in good hands. If you're new to the country, they can also point you in the right direction for waves or powder. They have good connections to their suppliers and really go all the way for their customers. I had trouble with my winter wetsuit and even though it fell out of warranty (by a few weeks), they were ready to help me out. Absolute legends!”
“Awesome family business. Sell a wide variety of recreational gear that is not on their website. The son knows his stuff and backs it up with his fishing. Highly recommend”
“The wealth of knowledge in this store is incredible. Not just with gear, but local resort and club. I went in to get a board wax and edge ($40 - done in one day) for my first ever season in Christchurch. Ended up spending around an hour across both days talking to Andrew and one of the owners about the local club scene, how it all works, how each club is slightly different down to how certain weather patterns change certain fields. They aren't pushy sales people, but I left thinking my setup is holding me back and this is the last season on my current kit. Their detailed knowledge down to the type of edges on your board just always made sense. I'll be hitting this place first when it's time.”
“Great service!! I took my old bike in to get a couple of repairs done. James quickly fixed it, plus did a few bonus tweaks to it as well. He explained how I could further improve the condition of my bike and also gave me good advice on the pros and cons on the maintenance of my current bike vs buying a new one. Thanks James, I appreciated your service.”
“First time playing mini golf at McDuffs today. $35 for 2 adults and 1 preschooler. Grounds are well maintained, with the castle being the main feature. Had a good time! Highly recommend.”
“I found my experience to be satisfactory, the worker miki helped me out a bunch, she helped me decide what size I was in the clothes and did it with expert skill I would expect from the only school clothing store I know off, I am very pleased with my service.”
“These guys care about their customers and go the extra mile. I’m buying all our family bikes here in future.. have a had a few repairs done there. Great people and so good to have that locally.”
“After driving nearly 3hrs to Chch to buy 2 kayaks Peter was amazing. We were let down by another supplier just down the road..... should have gone to Peter first. 5 star service, knowledge and much better price. Children are thrilled as are we. Cheers Peter. Thoroughly professional. We will return.”
“Been with them a few months, but can see the dedication and hospitality provided by the staff here, all in all top tier service A++. Lucky enough to tag along to an award night they had for a challenge and you can see that this is more than a just a gym. They motivate everyone which was seen with some crazy results and it's like one big family. Doesn't get any better, like who even gifts an apple watch for winning. Show me a better gym. I'll wait.....”
“Simon is the best Podiatrist! After 15 years of using my hip to overcome the periodic dysfunction in my osteo-arthritic ankle, my hip was 'buggered'. Whilst the HOKA shoe gave me 6 years of great support, Simon's assessment showed a much needed customised orthotic as the 'rocker' in the HOKA shoe whilst great, had caused a loss in foot mobility. Combined with my chiropractor, physio and Simon - I am now walking pain-free and my hip is fantastic!”
“Great customer service, young lady was attentive and helpful but NOT stalky/pushy , which is great ! Went out of her way to see if what the golfer wanted was in another store also. Nice relaxed shopping environment , young man on the till who served us friendly and great to deal with. Your Managers should know , esp in the current retail environment out there, you were both a credit to your store !”
“Great service from the manager today. 1st person I asked about something just direct me to the jackets and said can pack them all up small!!!!! Then the manager came along and basically gave advice, suggestions, looked for jackets out the back. Excellent.”
“Marcus supplied us with basic climbing gear. We arrived knowing nothing. He explained what we needed, supplied it, demonstrated how to set it up and how to use it. We left adequately kitted out and confident about how to use it. Brilliant. Thanks Marcus. Take a bow. We hope you get a raise.”
