“Go at night it is the amazing entrance to Christchurch botanical gardens. If you come during the sunny hours the water fountain will sparkle in all the different colours of the rainbow. Unfortunately no one throws money in there so no extra income for me. Water pressure also not strong enough to take a coherent shower and I got soap in my eye.”
“Beautiful place for a lovely walk and relaxed picnic. There is a great playground for the kids. There are Ducks & Eels!”
“Went to selwyn sounds with a group of friends and 10 thousand others. Great afternoon”
“This is an awesome dog park for both small and big dogs with separate gated areas”
“Great moderate loop track for kids and dogs on lead. A few stairs and uphill/downhill climbs, but nothing too strenuous. Plenty of parking and shaded areas for a picnic at the start/end. Be aware of bees and wasps in late summer. Took us about an hour with stops looking at scenery and playing in the water.”
“Beautiful spot. Very cheap fish and chippy nearby, what's not to like!”
“Wonderful vintage Market at this beautiful historic home. Market nicely set up inside house. A good rummage day.”
“Lovely little hidden gem, stunnung tracks set amongst tranquil, native bush, not far from christchurch. walks with good options for just a leisurely easy walk to a more adventurous 2hr hike. We did the loop track, which is about 50 minutes but we took our time and took in the scenery so were out there for awhile, pretty moderate. Very beautiful.”
“Great spot... Oxford lions club done a great job. Picnic tables and a pergola..toilets, really nice place to stay... Wide variety of camping styles here tonight.”
“Great running/walking track which connects Lake Rua through to the Groynes. Reasonably well maintained and a couple of off shoots.”
“I nice quiet little park with shaded seating, bins and toilet facilities. Lots of fun equipment but the slide stairs are rounded and not very great to climb up. Kids loved it!”
“What a great place to go with the family. Great beach with lifeguard, playground pool and mountain bike trails. Huge amount of walking tracks through forest and along the wetlands with lots of birds. The beach is huge and great to drive along. Highly recommend.”
“Nice local space, boasting a disc golf course, small playground, skate park and a pond surrounded by lovely trees and plants. Very family friendly.”
“A lovely park to walk right the way through or stop and sit in the rotunda and admire the view. A bird aviary and kids pool and playground plus toilet block can be found within the grounds of these gardens”
“A must place to visit. The walk through story of the big 2020 and 2011 quakes are very well documented. All the staff were very informative and welcoming.”
“A great walk. We headed up via the RHS. Starts gently then for the next third goes up a bit steeper. The final third flattens off. Good views going up and from the cave itself. The walk down is pretty steady on LHS (as you look from the bottom). Less rocks etc than going up on the RHS. There is a toilet block at Football club. ( needs a clean)”
“A great place to take your dogs; so far everyone (two and four legged) has been friendly. Often if you get there early enough in the morning, there's even wild rabbits for them to chase! Heaps of space and different areas to go.”
“Great park great playground. Loads of fun and have a toilet near by. Beach is not far away”
“Caught the sunset here on a weekday and had the entire place to myself. Very tranquil and good spot for a picnic.”
“Had a coffee break out witnessing. Watch out for the golfers hitting golf balls lol. i noticed there was a lot of green grass and trees, pioneer stadium is close by and one good feature out side was that there was volley ball courts and tennis courts and basket ball courts all available free to use. and there are picnic tables and a barbeque there to use, so i recommend trying out this place with your family.”
“Great location to take the kids to burn of some steam.”

“Beautiful place especially on a calm warm summers night. Love it”
“Nice track and beautiful waterfall. Watch out for mozzies and sandflies in summer. Be sure to go with people as you’ll want someone to open and close the gates for you as you pass through the farms. I’d recommend taking a 4wd to cross the rivers along the way.”
“Kids friendly and very good place for trail running or walking.”
“Nice hot spa while watching grandies in lazy river and shallow pool”
