“I wish I had opportunity to pass through Lincoln more in order to eat here more! Always my stop after a skate from Wigram on the Lil River Trail. No menu items available by the time I get there but even their cupboard food and definitely their coffee provide such comfort and happiness. I managed to try their soup too and that was super delish!”
“Have eaten here many times and it’s great every time. I love how I am able to bring my dog inside as it’s dog friendly here! Food is always amazing and their smoothies are delicious. Service is always friendly, Definitely recommend coming here!”
“Seoulful tastes, Seoulful vibe! Tried the chicken on rice, gimbap, tteokbokki, and pork cutlet — just like home. Clean flavours, tidy presentation, spotless kitchen, and genuinely kind service. Korean comfort done right in Christchurch.”
“We were seated promptly and given food and drink menus. Both of us opted for the beef fillet, one rare and the other medium rare. They were done to perfection, melted in your mouth and were tasty. The accompanying vegetables were also first rate. There was a good wine list , although not all were available by the glass. My glass of Cabernet Sauvignon was a standout. We thought the atmosphere and service were great and would we would return here to eat.”
“I had a great experience at this restaurant the other day. The interior is both elegant and inviting, creating a sophisticated ambiance. We visited for lunch as a group of 8 including locals who are regulars here. Many of us opted for the highly recommended their “Chefs pie”: Beef & Ale Pie, a generous portion of flaky pastry filled with savory beef, buttery cabbage, creamy mashed potatoes, and rich gravy. It was a delicious and satisfying choice. The other dishes ordered by our group were equally well-received. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome. We'll definitely be returning to this wonderful restaurant.”
The kitchen at Thirsty Acres takes a classic fish‑and‑chips path and lets the food speak. Gluten‑free needs are handled with care. Pricing lines up with the offer. There’s room for an easy weekend brunch.
“My best friend and I came to celebrate my birthday over brunch. Lovely lady at the counter was very accommodating and welcomed us with her beautiful smile. The food was delicious!! The portion sizes are perfect and well presented. This is definitely one of my favourite Cafe's I've been to in a very, very long time. Even the coffee was great!! 5 stars all around for me. Thanks to the chef for coming to check on us and if we enjoyed our meals. Our plates were empty - the answer is a definite Yes, we did :)”
“Lovely Cafe and Roastery that is dog friendly! My partner and I enjoyed our brunch here with our Pup Tilly and ate tastey cabinet food including a famous Fairlie pie shop pie, whilst enjoying delicious coffee. Would definitely recommend”
“Great food presentation and taste good. Coffee really got the nice aromatic smell and taste wonderfull. Environment wise its okay. Will be back for more definitely.”
“Kells is the truckers dream stop... always plenty of fresh food, sandwiches, a good selection of pies and drinks... and good coffee. If you're around Amberley or heading through and need a snack for your journey... Kells NEEDS to be in your plans for the journey. Cheese scones heated with butter for the win...”
“A beautiful spot for a sweet treat and cuppa (you can even bring your dog for a special doggie friendly gelato!). Tea serving size is generous. Staff are lovely. Highly recommend.”
“Went in for a coffee, outstanding service and amazing coffee will definitely be back again!”
“Fantastic service, food, presentation and coffee. The owners and the team are super friendly. The cappuccino is top tier. The hollandaise on the eggs benny was probably one of the best that I've had. Great cafe in Bishopdale!”
“As an expat whenever I'm back in Christchurch I make an effort to get here for the coffee, best Vanilla latte anywhere I've been in the world and great service, highly reccomended.”
“This place reminds me of some of the great cafes in Melbourne. Very well lit, clean, refreshing warehouse style cafe. Nice selection of small simple takeaway food options and treats. Coffee highly recommended.”
“I go there almost every week with a coffee group. They know my order so well, now i dont even have to ask. The coffee is great (self confessed coffee snob. I will not drink instant) the breakfast, eggs on sourbread toast is what I usually order. It is consistently fabulous every time, thats why I order the same thing. Because I know it is great. The place is clean, tidy. Staff are friendly and inviting. Service is outstanding. I am in a wheelchair and they accommodate my needs..I cannot recommend enough..I tell other people to go there and they trust me because I am so fussy. 5/5 from me..thank you for making Fridays a day to look forward to. I really appreciate it. :)”
“Was totally unprepared for the quality of the food that arrived at our table - Creamy Mushrooms and Lambs Fry and Bacon. It took a little time to prepare because everything was freshly cooked. My lambs fry took me back some 75 years to my grandmother’s kitchen which was not too far from where Kai Kitchen is today. Terrific atmosphere, ever so friendly staff. Do try it - it is a visit you won’t regret.”
“While visiting Christchurch, I stumbled across this gem and made it my go-to please for breakfast. The owner (now nicknamed Auntie) and her team are full of life and are passionate about each customer's experience with food.”
“Great selection of food, both hot and cold. Highly recommended.”
“Wonderful cafe. Lovely and accommodating lady who served me. Very nice friand and one of best long blacks I’ve ever had”
“Unreal brunch spot, chicken cheese melt reminds me of prime Fortnite days, simply perfection. Never been more of a brunch man than I am right now. Top stuff”
“We went here only once, during our quest to try all 100% vegan spots in Christchurch, but definitely not because of the food or coffee quality. In fact, the breakfast we had, (Pancakes and Big Brekky) was absolutely delicious. The coffee was flawless, too! I wish we would have had more time to try the asian dishes, as well. Next time!:)”
“Pies are full of real food. $10 for a plain mince but very tasty. Also got some sweet treats. Beautiful taste, spoilt for choice. Thanking Sheffield Pies for their response: Just to clarify, our items were 'rounded' up so my apologies for not specifying the correct price per item. Thank you for doing so. I hope this hasn't been taken in the wrong light but just as an aside, I should have got another pie! They were delicious.”
“A very unique café with an internal garden that creates a small indoor sanctuary. There’s also a designer clothing store right next to it, adding to the charm. You’ll need to book in advance if you want a good spot, as it can get quite busy on weekends. I’ll try to come early next time to fully enjoy the atmosphere. The coffee was decent.”
“We went out to a recommended restaurant for dinner, and the experience was wonderful. The waitress was exceptionally warm, gentle, and welcoming. The dishes take some time to be served since everything is prepared fresh, but it is absolutely worth the wait. For starters, we ordered: – Smoked Burrata with strawberries – beautifully presented and incredibly tasty. – Wild Mushroom Gyoza, served with sesame sauce, chili oil, and an Asian-style salad. An excellent dish, with perfectly steamed dumplings. For the main courses, which are the restaurant’s signature dishes: 1. Fish of the day – salmon, served tender, delicate, and absolutely delicious. 2. Braised Beef Cheek – slow-cooked with miso and sweet potato purée. The dishes were outstanding, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. There is both visual elegance and exceptional taste in every plate. Of course, we couldn’t leave without dessert. We ordered the pudding, which is their signature dessert, and it was excellent as well. We enjoyed the meal so much that we will definitely return to enjoy this wonderful food again, clearly prepared with great care and passion by the chef.”
“What can I say except that it was so good, and the girls are working with a smile. As a Belgian, I've really liked the decorations with the Belgian comics!”
“Love this place. The food is freshly made the coffee is very well made and the staff are very friendly. The chef Ryo know what he is doing. The food is tasty beautiful and down to earth. It is not expensive especially for the size of the portions. The coffee was smooth and very nice. Definitely worth a visit even if it means a detour.”
“What an absolute gem of a find. Definitely will be returning. Wish I'd noticed the speciality flavoured hot chocolates earlier. Great excuse to return! Cinnamon scroll delicious, 4 shot medium long black outstanding.”
“Easy location just opposite the Art Gallery. Good service and comfortable environment. Foods are well represented and tasty. Especially lunch special is very valuable and worth trying. Recommend!”
“Wonderful food and excellent service, we had the Lamb Rump with potato gratin and the Chicken and Bacon pasta. Generous portions and very tasty. Can thoroughly recommend. A visit to Zest Timaru is a must.”
