“If I could give more than 5 stars I would! A few years ago I was pregnant,tired and incredibly hungry and all the restaurants were actually closing their doors, including vino. My poor husband ran up just as you were closing the doors and asked if you had anything spare he could buy for me quickly. Without hesitation you actually turned your ovens back on,chatted to my husband about life,and made me a double portion of pasta FREE of charge and said it was a gift for us and our first baby. I genuinely cried at how generous you were to a total stranger. Don’t know if you remember this at all,but it’s always stuck with us! Highly recommend to anyone and everyone.”

“Holy!!!! A coast hidden gem!! Went for dinner, started with the cheese and garlic bread, must be home made dough because I could not get enough of it, then had the tarragon chicken, I’ve been dreaming about it ever since, absolutely mouth watering. staff were absolutely amazing, the smiles they give, you cannot help to smile. Decided to come back to try their breakfast today and what can’t they do, coffee 10/10 and I had the smashed avocado, would go back every morning if I could. If I could give it 10 stars I would!!!!”

“Farro has the freshest and best quality veges, and at times it's cheaper than the supermarket. They stock many specialist products like duck and steamed buns..... The wine selection is very good, and I prefer their rose selection to supermarkets. The store has a farmers market, community feel. They offer fresh rolls, salads and coffee. I only buy deli meats from here as the quality is better than supermarket brands. Staff are friendly and helpful.”

“The Hunting Lodge is such a beautiful wedding venue. As a wedding photographer, I always love shooting here. The grounds are stunning year-round, and the sunsets over the vineyards are next level. There are several ceremony options, including right at the edge of the vines or beside the iconic Barn. I also love the vintage caravan bar, it adds such a fun, relaxed energy and looks amazing in photos! With their in-house wine, relaxed vibe, and versatile indoor-outdoor flow, The Hunting Lodge is one of the best winery venues in Auckland :)”

“A small cozy sushi store in front of the Auckland Library. Sushi and rolls are freshly made. Seating is quite limited but most people go there for takeaways. I especially like the salmon cream cheese roll. They also have discounts for those bringing their own container.”

“We had a birthday dinner for my mum and the food and drinks were amazing. I had the passionfruit mocktail which was out of this world! Tried a variety of dishes and enjoyed all of them. The pork was succulent, the octopus was soft and delicious. Fish burger and truffle fries with Parmesan to die for. This is a beautiful restaurant atmosphere with excellent food and drink options and would highly recommend”

We first discovered Joe’s Garage in Queenstown and instantly fell in love — the food, the layout, the vibe… everything was perfect. But the real star for us was the pancakes, which our daughter adored. For a whole year she talked about them and couldn’t wait to go back as we were from Auckland. So when we found out there was a Joe’s Garage in Silverdale, we were thrilled — even though we live all the way in Henderson, we were more than happy to make the trip. We finally arrived, excited and ready… only to learn that the famous pancakes are only served before 5pm, and we had arrived at 6:30pm. Our daughter was devastated, and honestly, so were we. But this is where the magic happened. Our wonderful server Tyra (who was also managing that evening) could see how much it meant to our daughter. We politely asked if there was any chance the chef might be able to make an exception. Instead of giving us a flat no, Tyra said, “Let me see what I can do.” She went to speak with the kitchen team, and came back with the most heartwarming news — their chef Hunter was willing to make a fresh batch of pancakes from scratch, just for our daughter. We were genuinely moved. This wasn’t standard service — this was above and beyond. Tyra’s kindness, and Hunter’s willingness to go out of his way, created a moment our family will never forget. Because of this experience, Joe’s Garage will forever have a special place in our hearts. Wherever we see a Joe’s Garage in the world, we’ll be loyal supporters — and our daughter will too. “Learned about this hidden gem from family and friends, and dropped by for lunch after picking up groceries. The chicken and squid karaage had the perfect balance of crunch and tenderness, while the egg and potato salad was a particularly inspired compliment. Loved the calm, cosy vibes of the premises, too - mix of indoor, shaded and outdoor seating available.”

“Definitely the best (and most beautiful) sushi I ever had. If you have a few minutes you should eat in the seating are which is located upstairs in a business lounge with a glass front facing the harbour. The prices start at 1,50$ for the basic ones and they also have other options than sushi (e.g. Edamame, seaweed salad etc.) Totally recommendable!”

“I organised an end of year dinner for our class at Mr Tanakas tonight (13 of us). The entire process for organising the dinner was seamless and the team were so accommodating even when things changed a few times. The vibe of the restaurant was really cool, the service was awesome, the food was scrumptious and we were all full from our the $65 p/p set menu + a couple of other yummy dishes. The cocktails and wines were great and we had the pleasure of dining in the Lantern room which was such a fun vibe and included karaoke. Unfortunately we didn’t capture photos of the food. Anyhow - I’d like to thank the staff for their wonderful service tonight!! ❤️”

“Amazing food and service. Sakaba have authentic Japanese food in one hand and in another very creative dishes, like the wing gyozas and the monaka sushi. Sakaba is a hiding treasure in North Shore that deserve to be known by everyone who loves Japanese food.”

“Love her sushi. Some places don't get the filling to rice ratio right but hers is always perfect. Around $1.70 per piece. Freshly made and if you want something you don't see she will happily make it for you on the spot. Sushi bee and St Pierre's are my go to's for sushi.”
