    Oikos Hellenic Cuisine

    ★★★★★ 4.8

“Dined at Oikos for the first time this evening, and we will definitely be back. We ordered a variety of dishes to share – the lamb shoulder was super tender, the chicken skewers were delicious, and the honey feta was lovely. The portion sizes aren’t massive, but this is the sort of restaurant you’d visit for the experience and the quality of flavours, rather than to leave feeling absolutely full. My only suggestions would be to provide salt and pepper on the tables and to consider offering some non-alcoholic wine options. Warm service and a lovely atmosphere – many thanks!”

“I had the pleasure of dining at this wonderful restaurant, and I must say, it was a delightful experience from start to finish. The restaurant boasts a tantalizing array of authentic Arabic kababs and a diverse selection of other mouthwatering dishes that truly transport your taste buds to the heart of the Middle East. The highlight of the meal was undoubtedly the kababs; they were perfectly seasoned and the meat was grilled to perfection, offering a blend of flavors and tenderness that was simply exceptional. Each bite was a journey through the rich culinary traditions of the region, leaving me craving more. What truly sets this restaurant apart, however, is not just the delectable food but also the impeccable service and the warm, friendly atmosphere. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and eager to make your dining experience memorable. They are more than willing to offer recommendations and provide insights into the menu, making even newcomers feel right at home.”

“I'm always a fan of going to restaurants located slightly outside the central city area. I tend to feel a sense of community and not to mention supporting local business. Prime spot in Brooklyn, and you won't miss it. To top it off, friendly service always helps. I felt the layout creates a different vibe through the restaurant, a nice touch. My personal favourite on the night was the prawn toasts, yummm and the chef's dessert of the night.”

“Fabulous tasty food and plenty of it. 5 people and we shared all the food and it was great. Served on lovely plates and looked and tasted amazing. The staff did a great job of explaining the menu to us and what each dish came with and entailed. We had to attend an event and the food came in great time. The cocktails were also great and the wine list was good. only issue was they didn't sell bubbles by the glass so we just had to buy a bottle and that was superb. We didn't have room for any dessert which was a shame as they sounded amazing. we will be back”

We weren't too hungry so we shared a mixed meat on chips and they brought it out with an extra plate for us to share. The meat on chips was the most delicious one we've had yet. So filling yet refreshing at the same time. We couldn't stop talking about how amazing the meal was. New favourite food place in wellington 5 stars!”

    Aroha

    ★★★★☆ 4.6

“Vegetarians and Vegans rejoice, this place gives you real choice for lunch or dinner. No longer restricted by salads and cooked veges, this place provides burgers, stir frys and proper meals that are filling and most importantly delicious. Within the Press Hall food centre, this place establishes a refreshing alternative to other more regular options in the hall. The service is fast and efficient, the staff are friendly and there is allot of aroha that had gone into the dishes. The Smoky Seitan burger is fantastic with a bean curd based patty that is a great alternative to the usual beef patty. It is also packed with fresh vegetables which makes the burger very satisfying yet not stodgy at all. It's quite possibly my new favourite place for lunch in Wellington and yes I am not vegetarian or vegan. Just "Keep Calm and Eat Plant-Strong".”

“Full house for a Tue dinner service (before a sellout show at MFC). Be sure to book! Burrata, flatbread, snapper crudo, gnocchi, wagyu flank, half lamb shoulder (classic they'll hopefully never stop serving), sides of cauli & fries - between 4. All dishes were perfectly on point flavour-wise and generous enough to share. Everyone left satisfied and still recalling the yum hours later. Service was attentive and friendly but unprentious. Unique and broad selection of wines (cocktails a bit slow, but it was busy). Overall a very memorable meal and will for sure continue to recommend to others for special occassions, and return.”

“I've been to a lot of kebab places around Lower Hutt, and this place beats them all. Great price kebabs, generous portions, and they are juicy without getting soggy. The meat was grilled well, with good sized pieces and lots of crispy bits, and the kebab was wrapped so that you don't have to fight the tinfoil away before you can eat it. I also had the baklava, which at $8 is on the pricier side, but it was a good portion with plenty of syrup nuts and crunchy pastry. Today was my 3rd time here, and it will be my go-to kebab shop from now on.”

“Mediterranean Foods Wellington has the best pizza in Wellington, hands down. The linguine is absolutely to die for, and every visit has been matched with genuinely friendly, welcoming staff. The place has such a good vibe — warm, lively, and the kind of spot you can proudly bring friends or family who are visiting from out of town. A definite favourite and an easy 5 stars. “My partner and I recently celebrated her birthday here, and we had an absolute fantastic experience. The wait staff were delightful to deal with, and the food was delicious, while being rather different (being Asian fusion food) yet incredibly clever. The spice levels in each dish were perfectly balanced, which is one of the several reasons why I consider this worthy of 5 stars. I had the salmon entree, which was perfectly cooked and tasty salmon, with one nice dollop of beetroot reduction, and one of a lemon/citrus reduction, which paired nicely. The main was the tandoori charcoal chicken which was simply fantastic. The spice on this was outstanding, with a little bit of heat, which I found really kicked it up a notch. The charcoal chicken was perfect to me, ever so slightly crisp on the outside as you would expect, but perfectly cooked and juicy on the inside. The sauce was an excellent pairing too, as was the wasabi mashed potato, even though I am not a fan of mashed potato. The addition of the cardamon seeds was simply genius, and added a little something to it that was incredibly enjoyable. As for desert, I sadly forgot to take a photo, but it was the caremalised charred pineapple, which was also delicious. I especially enjoyed the sticky salted butter sauce on the side, which also had a small touch of cardamon to really add to the dish. It was a desert that you would never really see elsewhere as it truly embodied the fusion style, and considering how yummy it was, that's a bit of a shame! I love different and interesting deserts, and this was a prime example of that. Aside from that, the decor had a very nice 1920's feel to it, with some modern twists, to make the room cosy yet stylish. The wine selection was also really well chosen too. All in all I would very much recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting something slightly different yet special”
