“I come from Linwood to buy their Chicken fries noodles. This is my favorite Chinese one anytime in Christchurch.”
“The service is quick, the place is neat and they have ample seating space. Also the food quality is fresh and tasty. The quantity they provide is enough to get you full as well.”
“Starts at 6pm Unlimited Buffet Eat all you can All you can eat Bottomless Smorgasbord Good amount of variety. But i think something is missing, like dim sum/siu mai. hopefully they include bottomless fizzy drinks too. Add tomato sauce and aioli for the chips too maybe? And have some chili garlic sauce available too The place very neat and clean”
“It’s really delicious — I’ve been here several times already.”
At Lovely India Restaurant, the menu stays simple, bistro‑style with tidy execution. A riverside backdrop rounds out the stop. Value feels fair for the quality. Portions are generous yet well judged....
“I stayed at the hotel many times. Only really have breakfasts but this weekend I tried their dinner buffets (Fri & Sat only). It was fabulous nice food selection and of great quality. Hopefully this buffet will continue and I will most certainly return.”
“Cozy atmosphere, great food and customer service. Coffee is nice too.”
“This Chinese restaurant is underrated. The location is by the shopping centre car-park, so it’s not visibly obvious from the main road. The food (particularly vegetable dishes) is exquisite. I recommend Eggs fried with tomatoes (西红柿炒鸡蛋), it’s a Chinese common dish, but it’s the best that I’ve tasted anywhere. I also recommend eggplant stir fried with beans. Nice atmosphere as well. They also do a typical northern Chinese breakfast in the morning.”
“Beautiful eatery with polite staff and clean facilities. Food was splendid and well priced. In house dumplings were fantastic!”
“Dined in for yum cha on a weekday. The service was so warm and hospitable, it felt like being welcomed into someone’s house. Very leisurely vibes with retiree locals and regulars rolling in and staying awhile. The radish cake was very tasty and dumplings were crammed with filling. Located on a main road but can be easily accessed via James Street, past the back of the Mobil petrol station.”
“I was blown away by the dishes. All the ingredients were fresh and deliciously prepared. Service was friendly and fast too. This was a truly mouthwatering and memorable meal at a good price. Highly recommend it!”
“The place is full-packed and yet the service is still fast. Delicious food.”

“Enjoyed the complimentary breakfast buffet whilst staying at the James Cook hotel- we are a family of 7 so that helped us save a lot. Staff are great and welcoming. They have the best pancakes freshly made to order. We did have dinner one night where kids got to eat free with every paying adult but I found $65 to be quite excessive for the quality of food. Service was still great though:-)”
“My partner and I came here for our anniversary dinner. The food was very reasonably priced, pretty classic food menu. We even got a free dessert as I mentioned it was our anniversary. Very friendly staff and cozy atmosphere with a lovely view! Will definitely be back!”
“Excellent service, great food, good wine list, great ambiance ,Not so crowded ie tables are well spaced) and noisy so conversation is easy, and a good place to discuss matters over a meal. Recommended for those who have difficulty hearing.”
On the plate at WHITFORD'S RESTAURANT at Woolston Club, the idea is grill‑focused and well judged. Grill work shows a clean sear and rested meats. Front‑of‑house runs with calm, helpful energy. Orders move at a steady pace.
The kitchen at McGavin's Restaurant & Bar takes a grill-focused path and lets the food speak. Ribs and steaks come seasoned and tender. Team members keep things friendly and on task. Pricing lines up with the offer.
“This restaurant is solid. Don‘t be deceived by the negative reviews. The chicken skewers were delicious.”
“We often stay at the nova tel when in Wellington so we do dinner at the caucus restaurant Only a small menu but seasonal and changes offer Tonight was breads and dip, scotch fillet with a side of short rib The scotch was ever so slightly over done for me but still good and the short rib was amazing melt in your mouth We got the sides of pumpkin , carrots and chips And finished it off with the pistachio cake Good food and good service from Noee and Mereana”
“A young man who worked there treated me very nicely and the food was Amazing!!!”
“Great Chinese food served piping hot and with fresh ingredients. The seafood vermicelli was an amazing dish! Also enjoyed the seafood with vegetables in the claypot.”
“I’ve visited this place many times, and they consistently maintain a high standard of food. The service is great, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the prices are reasonable with generous portions. The restaurant is always clean, and I’ll definitely be coming back again.”
“I went to this restaurant for my birthday dinner with my partner, and from the very beginning, everything was full of beautiful details. Ayush, the manager, made sure we had the perfect table, and the staff members were absolutely adorable. Muni and Rohan checked on us throughout the night to make sure everything was perfect. We chose the eye fillet as our main, and it was absolutely delicious — cooked to perfection and a very generous portion. The food was just as impressive as the service. The final touch — the team surprising me by singing and bringing a small cake with ice cream — was the cherry on top of an unforgettable birthday dinner. I truly want to congratulate Ayush and the entire team for the exceptional service they are providing to their customers. Muni and Rohan were outstanding, and their kindness made the night even more special. This place truly has everything you need for a fantastic experience. More than recommended!”
At Singapore Restaurant, the menu stays Chinese takeout, served with an easygoing pace. A sensible spend for the quality. Sweet‑and‑sour stays balanced and crisp. Cakes and scoops finish things neatly.
“I decided to try The Cut and found their lunch special. The staff was very accommodating with my preferences and allergies, I'm pretty sure the chef checked on me. I told him it was nice to get a cheeseburger with crispy bacon and while the burger was messy it as very good. I also enjoyed the side salad of spinach, cabbage and cucumber that was very good and crunchy. I didn't want potatoes usually served along side and it was a good decision. I was only able to eat half my burger before I had to leave because of my allergies. I enjoyed the other half a couple hours later after it had set and wasn't so messy and the remainder of the burger for dinner. I really enjoyed this burger and can leave Auckland sastified.”
“delicious food!! size was pretty massive, we were there when they almost close, but they let us in and cook for us. very kind gesture. we ordered a bunch of food and couldn't finish it. the highlight is their congee, i really enjoy their century egg congee. full of eggs inside. their yumcha also very nice. i would recommend this place.”
