“Best sandwiches in Wellington and it’s not even close. It must be said the bread does a lot of heavy lifting in terms of making these Sammie’s what they are. Certainly no slouches on the filling either. Frequent menu rotation makes it easy to keep coming back for more. Good boy? That’s an understatement!!”
“Incredible meal and lovely night out. The service was superb, and food amazing. Considering we had 14 (I think?) courses, what was nice was having the space to feel like relaxed at dinner. We have done plenty of tasting menu's and sometimes you feel like you can't have a conversation without someone popping over and interrupting with something. It can't be easy to get the balance right on this! Wine menu also great, not the biggest selection - they probably don't have the storage space - but they were all super interesting and we enjoyed trying the tasting flight. We were asked what out favourite dish was and it was impossible to pick - it was all delicious.”
“The space is gorgeous and the staff was incredible, the service was very personal and warm. The food was incredible and unexpectedly flavoursome. We had dishes refreshungly unique and honestly the whole experience was amazing.”
“Margot has been our absolute favourite restaurant in Wellington for years now. The food is just always so delicious and never disappoints. The cocktail and wine menu is also always exciting and interesting. The spot itself is lovely and unassuming with attentive (but not overbearingly so) staff. These two vegetarians can't recommend it highly enough!”
“Finely crafted food and a great selection of umeshu from Japan. The contemporary styled Japanese inspired dining really worked well. One bite into each dish was delightful marriage of flavours. It is obvious to me the chef had put much thought and really crafted each dish to perfection, the delicious, umami flavours, tantalizing all the taste buds. But my highlight of the night had to be the maître d offering us some newly imported umeshu from Japanese at the end. The icing on the cake for a truly delightful dining experience”
“This is a amazing restaurant. The food is top notch and great size servings.”
“EXCELLENT. I wish we had one where I live. The baked goods are very high quality.”
“WOW! I love this little gem, Baos are amazing, the Panda dumplings are some of the best dumplings i’ve ever had and always served with a smile!”
“I had the pleasure of dining at this wonderful restaurant, and I must say, it was a delightful experience from start to finish. The restaurant boasts a tantalizing array of authentic Arabic kababs and a diverse selection of other mouthwatering dishes that truly transport your taste buds to the heart of the Middle East. The highlight of the meal was undoubtedly the kababs; they were perfectly seasoned and the meat was grilled to perfection, offering a blend of flavors and tenderness that was simply exceptional. Each bite was a journey through the rich culinary traditions of the region, leaving me craving more. What truly sets this restaurant apart, however, is not just the delectable food but also the impeccable service and the warm, friendly atmosphere. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and eager to make your dining experience memorable. They are more than willing to offer recommendations and provide insights into the menu, making even newcomers feel right at home.”
“We’ve always enjoyed the high-quality, convenient daytime meals at Sushil’s Musclechef, but our first evening dining experience was something genuinely special. The evening service offers a more intimate and refined atmosphere, paired with a thoughtful menu that highlights Sushil’s unique culinary identity—blending cultural heritage and modern flavour in a way that feels deeply personal and original. We started with the pumpkin soup with coconut, rich and comforting, and the smoked chicken Caesar salad, fresh, vibrant, and beautifully presented. The mains were outstanding: the braised lamb shank was melt-in-your-mouth tender, infused with bold, soulful flavour, while the market fish was perfectly cooked and delicately seasoned. Dessert was a highlight—the chocolate fondant, with its warm molten centre and vanilla bean ice cream, was pure indulgence. We ended the night with extra hot oat flat whites, smooth and perfectly made. While the daytime menu brings quality and convenience, the evening experience feels crafted, personal, and elevated—a reflection of Sushil’s passion for food and hospitality. His presence and care make all the difference. A special experience worth repeating. We’ll definitely be back. A true local gem. Lalo Fiso”
“We were delightfully surprised by this hidden gem tucked away in the Tuam St kitchens. There was a bit of a mix up with our order making it take 20+ minutes extra but considering it was a very rainy and busy Sunday night and the food was still handed to us piping hot with an extra mango lassi we weren't too fussed. Any small amount of hanger we were still experiencing was immediately blown away the moment we opened those containers and saw the glorious food inside! Everything was amazing. Beautiful soft lamb in the rogan josh, tasty chicken tikka, super stretchy cheese naan. Definitely the best Indian takeaway I've ever had. Restaurant quality to go! Highly recommend you check them out.”

“Asked if they had anything gluten free... Silly question. Most of it was gf. Chef Ryan was great." If it's not gf I can deconstruct it and make whatever you want". We chose pork spare ribs and lamb croquettes. It was great to watch a talented chef who obviously Ioves his work preparing our meals. Friendly, cheerful service. Super delicious food carefully seasoned. We will be back!”

“Half crispy half teriyaki rice bowl. Well priced and well filled! Thank you”
“Absolutely delicious! The food was incredibly fresh, and every detail was well thought out—even the takeaway came with a clever chip cup to stop any dripping. I had the mix with the shredded beef and it was so tender and full of flavour—absolutely delicious. And the churros were a standout—soft in the middle and just amazing. Highly recommend this place for anyone who loves quality food and great service!”
