   On ChatGPT’s recommendation, we chose to have dinner at The Bistro, and it was an excellent suggestion. The setting is simple yet warm and comfortable, the service is highly professional, and the food was outstanding — everything was absolutely perfect. A special mention goes to the sourdough bread with lemon brown butter, which was simply delicious. Without a doubt, the best meal of our stay in Taupo!

   A last minute trip away from our home up north, and, deciding on an early dinner in Taupo before heading off to our (wonderful) Airbnb, I chose The Bistro from reading its glowing reviews online. How happy we were! Exemplary, friendly service, stunning food (i could eat several bowls of the calamari without coming up for air) and a complementary wine list, every single aspect of our meal was perfect. It’s a long time since we have enjoyed every course at a restaurant, as, often, one of the courses isn’t as delicious as all the rest, but not so here. I can’t wait for another road trip so that I can come back!! Thanks so much Jude and your attentive young staff!

   This is a gem. A two-hat rating is very hard to get and Jude and his staff work to maintain that level of expertise. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable and the food is by far the best we've had on our trip. The terrain of carrots, confit duck, rocket salad and banana bread pudding were exceptional. Jude's knowledge of wines and pairings were on the mark. The restaurant was filled. Highly recommend the Bistro.

   A wonderful show of local produce. We opted for the wine pairing and degustation and it didn’t disappoint. We were lucky enough to be served by the owner and it was clear he has a real passion for the food, the beverage and local produce. Each dish was unique and full of flavour. The wine pairing was on point with each wine complimenting the dish perfectly. The restaurant ambience and music complimented the night perfectly.

   Food was absolutely delicious! The duck main was succulent and well presented, as was the perfectly cooked scotch fillet. Dessert lovely. Service was outstanding- the owner is clearly passionate about every little detail that goes into the food and the service- all which made for a wonderful night out. Highly recommended!

   The vibe at this restaurant was great, we felt super cosy and all of the food sounded great. However we felt like the dishes fell a little flat when we tried them. The steak was amazing and the fish dish tied together very well. But the mushroom velouté did not have much flavour and we didn't really feel like some of the accompaniments added much to the dishes (like the celery stalks). Overall we had a nice enough time though

   As food lovers, we reserved both nights in Taupo for The Bistro. The menu at The Bistro is relatively simple. We tried almost everything on the menu and they were all very pleasing to the eye. The chef's selection of ingredients, the deployment of sauces, color matching, and plate presentation are like the impressionist painter Monet, soft and harmony. Dedicated service, tasteful decoration and cuisine are like a piece of jazz, making people relax and joy. The only thing you need to remember is to book in advance. See you next time in Taupo❤️

   Amazing food and service! The calamari and cured raw fish were my favourite! Also loved the complimentary homemade sourdough and lemon brown butter curd served on arrival. The option to pay $65 for a entree, main and dessert was great value for money. We will definitely be back!
