This was our second opertunity dining at 5th, and we actually scheduled it into our itenary because we had such a memorable experience in '22. All the plates meet/exceeded expectations, and all deserve mention beyond this quick review. Sharing them amongst ourselves added to the fun atmosphere. The coastal lamb shoulder was so tender, savory- not over cooked, yet crisp- and balanced by a refreshing creamy cucumber labneh and pickled onions. If you are anywhere near 5th Street, I highly recommend you include them in your itinerary. We have scheduled another visit when we circle back here before returning home.

Absolutely Blown away. We walked almost a mile straight out of Christchurch over the railway bridge and sidings…very urban indeed! From the street, the place looks like a shack BUT what an amazing place!! TIPS: 1) Book to sit at the counter - Will was fantastic entertainment…a d Jamie was a worthwhile sidekick! 2) Book a cab to the restaurant!

We had a fantastic evening at 5th Street Restaurant. The ambience is modern and cozy, the staff are incredibly professional, and every dish was cooked to perfection. The flavours, presentation, and portion sizes were all spot on. If you’re looking for a place that delivers exceptional food and genuine hospitality, 5th Street is a must-try.

The service is great, and the environment. The Fresh mocktail is so good, highly recommend! The lamb shoulder is a bit hard, not as soft as I thought. The potato is yummy but not worth of its price.

Innovative food. Caters to a variety of tastes and diet types. The sharing plates are the way to go if you have a large group. Quality fresh, local ingredients. The lamb was excellent and I really enjoyed the use of beetroot in their dips. It can get busy, we had a significant wait even though we did have a booking, but everything else was fantastic. Decent drink selection. Do try the cocktails, they do a good old fashioned.

Great place. Good food. Recommend the beef cheek and stracciatella cheese. Had the brownie and it was very good. Had the crab dish and wasn’t great. Chicken was good - but not my top pick. Sam one of the staff was fantastic.

Omfg. Yes yes yes. Super tasty. Expensive but worth it. Fish a little small but beef cheek was to die for. So so good. Had a bit of a morose waitress which was a downer (no smile and didn't want to be at work that night). but the cocktails helped me forget about her!! Yay to the dessert as well. Don't order anything but the apple pie, 100% perfect.

This was our second visit after recommended by many people so that we had high expectations. Overall experience was good. Sauces in all the plates were impressive. Small plates were particularly great; medium plates that can be ordered in half size could be better, for example carrots were undercooked and bland; Some proportions of steak were a bit overcooked. Dessert menu wasn’t anything exciting. Sparkling wine was served in a normal white wine glass, a bit odd.

We dined here on a Saturday night to celebrate our friends Birthday. We’ve been a number of times and the team never disappoints. From the minute you arrive you are welcomed and asked if you’d like a pre dinner drink prior to being taken to your table. Do this and order a cocktail as the mixologist is terrific. I had an old fashion and it was on point. My wife chose the vodka martini and it was crisp and strong !! As there were 4 of us we ordered 3 starters, 2 middle plates and 3 mains. The warmed spiced olives were delicious and the meatballs were packed with flavour. The carrot dish was surprisingly good and the Brussels sprouts were so delicious and crunchy. My buddy typically hates these but he was all over them. For the mains we had the fish, lamb shoulder and veggie risotto. All of these dishes were just melt in the mouth delicious. The fish was so beautifully cooked with that slight opaque sheen, and the lamb just fell apart. Highly recommended and I can honestly say this is in our top 5 restaurants in New Zealand and top 3 Christchurch.

Awesome night out for dinner with friends. We opted for the Trust the Chef option which was excellent. Delicious food, great service, very funky busy vibe. Loved everything we ate Looking forward to returning there for dinner!
