“Very friendly reception on entry, we booked in for the newly built cabin room. Only $60 a night, the cabin is brand new with big screen flat TV, fridge, kettle, toaster and portable fan. The room is not massive but you get space back on the front deck. The share toilets, bathroom and kitchen are all new and modern. The owners seem keen to make constant improvements. Would recommend to friends.”
“Not a huge car park but plenty of spaces available. This is always quieter as people tend to park further up and have a shorter walk. Toilets and water refill station at the car park. Would recommend the red trail (giant circuit). Beautiful walk through redwoods, to the peak and across the saddle. All the trails are really well sign posted with coloured arrows. Just remember what colour trail you want and you will be sweet”
“did the blue trail. Amazing view, saw lots of Toi birds”
“All the staff here are so nice and very helpful! Sometimes I think it can be stressful because there's certainly a lot of people, but I think they all handle it well and keep the standards high. Totally recommend!”
“Love this little spot for a picnic on a hot day! Kell Park has everything you need and more: plenty of shade, public toilets, ample parking and pushchair/wheelchair accessible pathways. Dogs are allowed off leash year round (although mind the free range chickens!) Albany library is just alongside so perfect to grab a book and read in the shade. There is a small playground (suitable for younger children) in the main park - or follow the pathway in either direction for a short bush walk to the big slide and flying fox (flying fox was out of order when we visited Jan 2024). For older children there isn’t a lot to do here - though the flying fox if working would be a good draw. We visit this park fairly frequently and it is never busy.”
“Monarch Park is a picturesque park that combines natural beauty with excellent amenities. Its lush greenery, walking trails, and well-kept picnic areas make it a perfect spot for families, joggers, and nature enthusiasts. The park's calm and welcoming atmosphere provides a refreshing escape from the hustle of daily life. Whether you're looking for a place to relax, enjoy outdoor activities, or connect with the community, Monarch Park is a fantastic choice.”
“Staff friendly at front counter, pools clean.”
“A great start to walking. Medium fitness required. Some steps and roughly a 20min walk. Around 2km. Lots of native birds, watch out for the falling seeds. Wood pigeon and Tui’s dog friendly. Suitable for a family. Kids under 5 should be closely supervised as there are some steep drops and no rails. Beautiful on a sunny morning. Make sure you clean your shoes on the way in and coming out.”
“Local, Christmas lights at Jellicoe.”
“Played Reserve Women's softball match against Otahuhu.”
“Love this park! Usually a night market on the weekends and plenty of space for kids, playgrounds, basketball courts, and even flat ground skatepark with some mini ramps. They also host events here like Matariki!”

“We always go there to play basketball in the morning when it's chilly and lovely”
“Such a lovely playground! Smaller area suited to younger children. Lots of shady spots to picnic. A nice little track for riding bikes too!”
“Great little park...mini bush walk and playground, and need to mention the Tui's.”
“Love this park. My kids love it because my daughter and I get to do our little exercise rounds and also my son gets to play at the playground and his favourite the flying fox that's there too.”

“Great walk with kids and family. Can be messy and slippery during rain but overall a perfect way to spend a day. Good spot for picnic too.”
