“The new park (post cyclone Gabrielle) opens April 6th 2024 and is accessed via Waipunga road, off SH5 Esk Valley. Turn into Waipunga road, cross the bridge then turn right into the first forestry road, and follow this to the carpark. No tracks remain in the Mill Block off SH2.”

“A perfect spot to view the east coast of Wellington. Not far away from the car park you can see an arch hole on your left; when you are looking far towards the sea you may see Baring Head Lighthouse. It’s a Lighthouse located in back country.”
“We spent a night at the motel and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The cabin was an affordable and comfortable option. Spare blankets were available, the sheets were of a good quality and the room was warm. We slept peacefully and I love the country setting. A nice swimming pool is available which would be fun to use in the warmer months. It was a great location for us being near the Cape Palliser Lighthouse, the Pinnacles and Lake Ferry. The hosts were friendly and told us about things we could see and do. Hopefully we can return next year!”
“First time playing mini golf at McDuffs today. $35 for 2 adults and 1 preschooler. Grounds are well maintained, with the castle being the main feature. Had a good time! Highly recommend.”
“Situated in approximately 26acres of bushland, adjacent to the Ashley gorge and Ashley River. This is a beautiful area with plenty of space for everyone. There are clean and modern bathrooms and well appointed kitchens. A small playground, with swings and a slide etc, sitting on a raised area full of bark-chips for safety. Lots of time and effort has been put into this park over the last few years, and is a credit to the new owners.”
“It is a beautiful lake n easy walk way.”
“Kids had a blast! Great activity for kids of all ages. Ours range from 10-16 and all loved it (and we did too!) love the new addition and all the work that has been done around the place since we last visited!”
“We took our 18-month-old twins and they absolutely loved it. The interaction with the animals was fantastic, especially being able to feed them. It was a lovely walk around the park and very stroller-friendly, which made the visit easy and enjoyable. A great day out for families with young children — we’ll definitely be back.”
