“Cute little neighbourhood Argentinian run cafe on Oriental Bay. With a seaside view this place offers a simple modern interior decor, funky contemporary music that serves coffee and Argentinian treats and pastry. The empanadas are delicious but my favourites are the egg and bacon pastry/tart and they serve the best cheese scones I’ve ever had- I taste test cheese scones wherever I go! The egg and bacon pastry/tart is served with this special Argentinian sauce that’s unique and delicious that I highly recommend trying- Chimichurra sauce. Service is courteous, polite and friendly.”
“I was early to take the ferry to the South Island and had a coffee there. The vibe was amazing. The staff was so friendly and helpful and joking around with each other and the customers. On top of that the coffee was also fab. I had a savory scone that which was very JUM as well.”
“One of the best coffees around ChCh, the best Picolo and Flat White with macadamia milk I ever had in my life. Beautiful design and the food is also very tasty. Staff is very friendly.”
“Fantastic find. Cute and personal with friendly, helpful staff. Coffee was sensational - perfect strength (double shot) and eggs on toast perfectly cooked with sourdough. My new favourite Christchurch coffee spot.”
“Olive was absolutely tremendous, she was so kind and caring with a great energy and service she made my day would really recommend going as definitely will be thank you olive.”
“I love popping into Spooky when I'm in Lyttleton. There's always a great vibe and a smiling face. I'm not much of a coffee drinker, but Spooky is on e of the only spots I'll order and finish a coffee ( and that says a lot). Definitely worth paying them a visit if your in town.”
Chef Astig EuroAsian Cuisine favours a simple, bistro‑style mix with clear flavours. The team keeps things friendly and organised. Orders move at a steady pace. Plates offer plenty without weighing things down.
“We thought the coffee was great. So was the service. The owners were friendly, efficient and pleasant. And pet friendly! They had a well behaved, small dog and a charming cat keeping them company. Learning nearby. We will choose this cafe again as our Whatawhata stopping place on a drive from Auckland to home.”
“I come in here to get dried meat sausages which are excellent! There is a good selection of fresh locally grown veges, baked bread from Volare in Hamilton, and the biggest selection of cheeses I've seen anywhere! The food and coffee is great. But what makes it really special is the staff member Albert remembers my name every time I go in - even though my name is quite unusual. Really appreciate the service here. Thanks, customer for life!”
“Well balanced coffee, nice atmosphere and kind staff. They were really friendly and even took their time to sit down with us and discuss the opportunities the are provide to travelers. Thanks again for the tips ;)”
“I visit Barber Tom's for my regular haircut. The atmosphere is clean with a great vibe. Jess's service is really exceptional. She's always professional, friendly and give great attention to detail. My hair is always neat and evenly cut and I leave knowing my hair looks great. The hot towel afterwards is so relaxing. I can highly recommend them!”
“Very good coffee and a delightful cheese scone-I tried some with jam and it was great lovely sweet and savoury combination. The birds were at the ready for any dropped crumbs. Some nice artwork on display as well.”
“Such an awesome little spot for coffee with a view. It was super busy when we arrived but still welcomed with great customer service. Basic cabinet food- only 1 option for vegetarians. The milkshake was a 10/10 would definitely have again!”
“I came late and was still welcomed. The lady went out of her way to accommodate me and I had 2 lovely biscuits. Not oversized or over priced, just right and super delicious. Good coffee too.”

“Amazing cafe! Lovely staff and great owner.”
“I’ve tried their halo-halo, siomai and milk tea. I really like their siomai especially the fried garlic, it gives it a good touch. Their halo-halo is good but the amount of the red bean they add to it is very overwhelming, even when mixed. The milk tea is nice and smooth. One of the best pearls I ever had! It’s cooked just right, not too firm not too soft. I recommend this place :)”

“I am working on the same building and this is not only a very convenient place to go, but best stop for cheese scone and coffee! Yummy Prestigios and delish Empañadas. We went to try the WOP burger and it is a success! Rodrigo is lovely, always have a nice word! Well done”
“We visited as a Playcentre trip. Michaela was really easy to communicate and plan with. Our children had a great time helping put mulch around the plants and planting some new plants. Michaela was realistic about how long the children’s attention would last and we moved inside to enjoy coffees and the children played in the play area.”
“Aside from their amazing coffee (and seasonal drinks), this is the only coffee spot that offers lactose free milk! Even bigger cafes don't do that. Imrpessive! ❤️”
“Got Carly‘s to cater to my father‘s funeral reception and family gathering. This food was fabulous. The service was great. Requested a number of gluten-free options. All of them were delicious. The delivery was on time. The food was nicely presented and Carly and her husband provided a wonderful service.”
“Such a beautiful space to spend a day workin away on my laptop (or hanging out with friends, or a meeting/workshop!) - so spacious, a swing and table tennis with baker Scott. And beautiful food. Feels like home, a community place. And the most beautiful interior, feels exquisite!”
