Chose Empire for a couple of hot chocs whilst in the Riverside Market. Mainly a takeaway there are a few seats too. Drinks were really nice and staff friendly.
Coffee was an absolute treat! Really great quality flat white and nice location to also pick up some food and produce from other vendors.
I’ve been here several times, but the flat white I had today was by far the best I’ve had in Christchurch. Exceptional quality and perfectly balanced.
Aside from their amazing coffee (and seasonal drinks), this is the only coffee spot that offers lactose free milk! Even bigger cafes don't do that. Imrpessive! ❤️
The BEST soy vanilla mocha I have ever had…. So smooth and yummy. Staff were super friendly and would highly recommend going to this spot!

If you're looking for a cozy coffee spot with a warm atmosphere, friendly staff and great coffee, I would highly recommend Empire Coffee.
One of the best coffees (flat white) we had in NZ as it had a surprisingly fruity taste! They really do understand how to roast coffee. And the (female) baristas were really friendly each time we visited. We also bought beans for the aeropress and liked those too.
