“Lovely intimate theatre. The quality of the play I saw there (Grand Horizons) was fantastic. The set design was incredible and the acting was practically professional level. The price of the ticket was very reasonable, and there is a bar that you can buy drinks and snacks from. A great night out, would highly recommend.”

“I had the absolute pleasure of attending "The Importance of Being Earnest," while I was in Auckland for a weekend getaway from the South Island. I must say, it was a brilliant experience from start to finish. The production was thoroughly entertaining and the impeccable delivery of Wilde's witty dialogue had the audience in stitches throughout the entire play. What truly stood out, however, was the passion and dedication of the entire theatre company. It was evident that every member of the cast and crew poured their heart and soul into this production. In a world where big-budget productions often dominate the theatre scene, it's refreshing to see a smaller theatre company deliver such a stellar performance. They prove that talent, creativity, and a genuine love for the craft can shine just as brightly on a smaller stage. I wholeheartedly recommend attending a production to anyone seeking a night of laughter, culture, and brilliant theatre.”

“Update- this little place no longer operates as a cafe. But instead is a cute venue and pizzeria and bar. Hours can vary so best to check out when they are open for pizza and drinks. The best little cafe in Westmere. We went to a birthday party here and it had an awesome private tiny theatre and private garden. There was also the public cafe with delicious food and coffee.”

“Barbara Jenner's review above has confused two venues. She is criticising the large Torbay Community Hall which is owned by the TCA - Torbay Community Association. Torbay Theatre, an amateur theatre group, owns the small Gate Theatre which is attached to the Hall. I hope this clarifies things?”

Its been absolutely great to see him growing confidence in speaking in front of others and being willing to share his ideas with others. “Just watched the end of year show as my niece and nephew go to this dance school... Ive been to SOOOO many end of year dance shows for different nieces and friends kids over the years, and this was by FAR the BEST one Ive ever seen!! Amazing story telling, amazing dancers, amazing costumes and amazing organization!! I dont deal with this dance school personally but from what I witnessed tonight, they have to be one of the best dance schools!! Huge props to the owner, manager, dance teachers, other staff and even the older children who did so amazing!!! I was so impressed with the older kids!! The older kids not only maintained the story and their dancing, while directing all the younger/youngest dancers! BRAVO!! Editing to also say... This is also the only end of year dance show that I would've been happy to watch even if I didn't know any kids in tge show lol.”

“The staff here were very accommodating after I had mistakenly booked wheelchair tickets for the Commodores concert as someone who's not physically disabled. “Hawkins Theatre in Papakura is now open after refurbishment. Hawkins theatre is a great place to meet with friends and enjoy each others company while catching a movie, school performances, Dane competitions, events and awards, The Glow Show, or a fun time with Operatunity!! You can purchase ice-cream, coffee, biscuits, or wine at the bar. You can take them into the theatre with you also. If you are a senior and purchase your tickets online for the movies, currently they are only $10:00. Hawkins theatre is also a lovely place to take the grandchildren/mokopuna for the movies anytime. There is often a Ladies night, which costs $24 or $26 depending if you purchase in advance or at the door. Thus usually involves a chick flick(however some me do attend) a drink of any kind and an ice-cream. A great deal. Here are a few photos of the April program to pique your interest.”
