Love this little gem helping our youngsters for their drama talents. This is the smallest theatre I have been to but hey every star has a humble start. It deserve much more spotlight!
Fantastic little theatre, 4 shows a year with lots of variety for both the young & older. There's good parking when the rugby isn't on nearby. Their latest show, Winnie the Pooh, was brilliant, with awesome 2D painted props, just like a storybook! Highly recommended.
Today, a group of nine of us traveled from Orewa to Birkenhead to see "Pooh Bear." This was our first TheatreWorks production, and it was definitely worth the trip. The cast put on a fabulous show, and their passion for their art was truly beautiful to see. Each character felt familiar and was expertly depicted. The costumes, props, and storyline were all excellent, contributing to a delightful experience. Our only concern was that some of our group of seniors chose to sit a few rows back from the front and it was sometimes difficult to hear. We look forward to attending more shows in the future and hopefully our support will help TheatreWorks invest in the sound equipment they may be hoping for. We are looking forward to our next visit - thank you TheatreWorks cast for a lovely day out.
I had the absolute pleasure of attending "The Importance of Being Earnest," while I was in Auckland for a weekend getaway from the South Island. I must say, it was a brilliant experience from start to finish. The production was thoroughly entertaining and the impeccable delivery of Wilde's witty dialogue had the audience in stitches throughout the entire play. What truly stood out, however, was the passion and dedication of the entire theatre company. It was evident that every member of the cast and crew poured their heart and soul into this production. In a world where big-budget productions often dominate the theatre scene, it's refreshing to see a smaller theatre company deliver such a stellar performance. They prove that talent, creativity, and a genuine love for the craft can shine just as brightly on a smaller stage. I wholeheartedly recommend attending a production to anyone seeking a night of laughter, culture, and brilliant theatre.
Wonderful plays held here very high stand. We have been to 2 of their plays and had a wonderful evening with the theater crew. If you want an enjoyable evening out I highly recommend them. Thank you to all those who were involved with the plays you perform.
Really enjoyed their latest play, ‘Sham’. Intense and fast-paced with a talented tight-knit cast. Fantastic local drama, well directed and produced by this small local company. Final night is Sat 01/04/23, don’t miss it!

Very very good. All actors played their parts well. It moved along at an enjoyable jaunt pace. The over invested audience members spoilt it a bit. Loudest at clapping and laughing. There seemed to be some in house jokes from stage to them. Left some audience members feeling left out or not 'part's of the evening. Please enjoy but do not take.ovet.
Very cosy and friendly venue run by volunteers with a big heart. Even though is an old venue with just 72 seats, great theatre plays can be seen on stage there all the time. They are put in stage by directors and actors who made theatre a great passion of their life. TheatreWorks Birkenhead is a very good place where you and your family can experience, at a very cheap price, a relaxing evening which it will help you to recharge your "batteries " after a very busy week of our modern life. Very often their plays will bring you back in diferent time of our history or into the world of fantasy especially when the kids plays are on stage...Enjoy
