“I grabbed dinner for takeaway from Li’s Cafe for my birthday. absolutely delicious! The food was packed really well and tasted just like home. Super comforting, full of flavour, and the service was lovely and friendly. Highly recommend if you're after a warm, home-style meal!”
“Enjoyed an absolutely delicious lunch with a glass of French Chardonnay at Tartines Cafe while visiting Eastbourne. It was a nice relaxed atmosphere seated in their covered courtyard on a beautiful sunny winters day. The staff were friendly and attentive. Tartines welcome dogs which was an added bonus as we had driven out to Eastbourne to take her for a walk. We also noticed they had a lovely selection of frozen takeaway meals so we popped back on our way home and bought a couple of delicious looking soups that are very reasonably priced. Highly recommend.”
“To be fair the cafe was empty when we arrived. Gorgeous food.”
“Our favourite spot as a young family of six! Even better that we can bring our beloved pooch. The food is delicious, the outdoor area is perfect, and with four boys we always appreciate being able to sit outside. Great staff and a lovely, generous owner. We’ll definitely be back for many more visits!”
“Lovely little place for some lovely food. A little undiscovered secret in Wellington. Friendly couple run the place, good service, clean and a great view of the stream if you sit down the back. Free parking out the front.”
“We came for the cheap prices but would return for the food and coffee! Wasn't expecting much but our Eggs Benedict's were very decent homely fare and the coffee was excellent! It's signage is hidden behind scaffolding at the moment so be sure to look for it even if you can't see the sign! They deserve the business :)”
“Love coming here when I work in Wellington! Friendly staff and great service! Also a nice atmosphere and space, really peaceful if you want to get off the busy streets in the city. Coffee is lovely too!”
“Coffee to die for and beautiful authentic seafood chowder deliciously thick and packed with real seafood. Big thanks to Nish and Liam.”
“Hot chocolate with an amazing slice of chocolate oat banana bread, followed by a toasted sandwich of my choice. Lovely experience. Needed this chilled out moment to self away from the hustle and got exactly that. Lovely service. Thanks heaps for amazing experience. Never been here before this, totally recommend!”
“Title: A Gem in Khandallah - Parsons Cafe and Bakery Outshines! From the moment you step into Parsons Cafe and Bakery in the quaint heart of Khandallah, Wellington, you understand why this place is beloved by locals and visitors alike. Our experience was nothing short of spectacular, captivating both the senses and the soul with its delightful offerings and charming ambience. Upon entering, we were greeted by the warm, comforting aroma of fresh coffee and baked goods that felt like a cosy embrace. The interior exudes a rustic charm, with a friendly, welcoming vibe that instantly makes you feel at home. The staff at Parsons are the heart and soul of the establishment—always sporting genuine smiles, they provide exceptional service, ensuring every patron feels valued and well-cared for. Now, onto the culinary delights! Parsons Cafe and Bakery is a veritable treasure trove of culinary creations. Their bakery items are divine, each bite of their flaky, buttery pastries transported us to a state of bliss. We particularly loved their signature sourdough bread—crusty on the outside, soft and airy on the inside, it's a testament to the skill and passion behind their baking. The cafe menu is equally impressive, featuring a wonderful array of dishes that are both innovative and comforting. We tried their seasonal brunch special, and it was exquisite, perfectly cooked, and presented with a level of care and creativity that is truly commendable. The coffee deserves a special mention too; robust, smooth and just the right kick to start the day on a high note. This charming cafe also offers a selection of vegetarian and vegan options, catering to all dietary needs without compromising on flavour or quality. Each ingredient speaks of freshness and quality, a reflection of their commitment to offering the best to their patrons. “Just had dinner here and it was an amazing experience! The blonde hostess/waitress that served me was very bubbly friendly and patient!! The food was also brilliant, plated beautifully and came out quickly, I'll definitely be coming back here soon as it was one of the best eating experiences I've had!”
“The only place I know that makes Kedgeree, a lovely moist rice dish with smoked fish - it is superb, definitely 5 stars. The photo doesn’t really do it justice. If I lived in Wellington I’d come here all the time. Great coffee too.”
“A wonderful birthday lunch at Picnic! I cannot thank Picnic Cafe enough for an absolutely fabulous 70th birthday lunch! It was Wellington on a good day and the roses were in full bloom. This is such a fantastic venue for Welly locals and especially for visitors. The service was outstanding with the manager and his staff graciously, attentively and very efficiently accommodating 26 exuberant family and friends. It worked beautifully for the group that each could select what they wanted for lunch and the atmosphere was relaxed and, well, picnic-y. It couldn't have been better! Highly recommended. Thank you to Paul Lester and J Paul and Picnic! Mary Dec 2025”
“Absolutely amazing! The staff are lovely, kai was top quality, you will not regret eating here. As a Maori the environment and energy made me feel right home!. ✨❤️ Gorgeous ocean view whilst eating was just a bonus☀️ Ngā mihi nui ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”
“Have visited this café many times in the past and it's always been good. Their drinks are nice and hot and the cabinet and cooked food is great. I think the scones are especially nice here. I have never had an issue finding a table but it does get popular for business meetings, so if you go around lunch time it may be busy”
“Amazing food and service, everything is perfect.”
“great cafe . coffee was lovely . kids enjoyed all you can eat pancakes . definitely going to come here more often knowing you can enjoy a coffee and cake while the kids play . the lady on counter today was so lovely and welcoming.”
“Aladdin's vegetarian kebabs are the only takeaway "treat" I indulge myself in regularly. (I even have a rewards card and I rarely bother with those). I say treat because this is such healthy food! The team at Aladdin's are always welcoming, they remember and clearly value their regular customers, and they offer consistently good service and food. My husband has now converted to the vegetarian kebab, they are that tasty! I highly recommend them.”
“Genial little cafe that seems to be best known for home baked cakes (hence the name) . Very much an artisanal family business vibe. Only bought coffee but the cakes did look good. Interestingly the cafe is in the building where Plimmerton's first general store was.”
“We had our son's 1st Birthday at the spray pool, food organized through Kilbirnie cafe who were a delight to deal with, very accommodating and had all the basics a kids birthday requires. The spring rolls were our favorite.”
“This cafe is by the pool and is really lovely. The food is all delicious, and the staff are friendly. Surrounded by bushes, it has a really pleasant atmosphere. We'll definitely be back again!”
“Yummiest “hot” Leek & Potato soup with lovely crispy fresh grainy toast on a cold Welly day. Their cabinet food looks great too. Nice spacious cafe at the top of Early Settlers. Recommmend!”
“The barista .. Athina k makes THE BEST coffees in Kilbirnie. Awesome service, great food and delish coffees! Highly recommend”
“Great café! Friendly staff, delicious food and drinks, great relaxing vibe. Cafe Mamba is definitely one of my go-to spots.”
“Super clean and well organised with a really impressive play area. The entrance fee is expensive but worth it in my opinion. There are even healthy menu items at the canteen, which is unusual at other indoor play areas. A great rainy day trip!”
“A great restaurant serving delicious food located steps from the Ibis hotel where I was staying. The Mussels were some of the best and the lamb rump was cooked to perfection. The atmosphere is very nice as it seems to be an old bank building. Prices were reasonable. It was however very noisy.”
“Wonderful new owners here have refreshed this favourite local cafe. Consistently great food and outstanding friendly service”
