Stopped in at Blue Belle Cafe to have a pie. We grabbed a mince and cheese pie - $9 was the total. Pastry was lovely and soft, filling nice as well (didn’t have a lot of cheese compared to other pies we have tried). Service was great.
Sorry to write this but as a pie enthusiast, I had this store in my to-try list when I visited Wellington. We tried their Steak & Cheese pie and honestly, we were disappointed. it's below average imo. The price for the quality/taste is almost ridiculous. Cheap grease underside with some burnt crumbs too. Gravy is a bit weird msg taste with lighter colour than usual. Can see they tried to make it different (special?) than most other pies but it's a fail to me, Portion of Cheese very small in the pie too.
Really cool vibe at the Blue Belle and a very busy Sunday Morning on our visit. Food was good but not great. My wife found the hollandaise sauce a bit too strong. The pulled pork ciabata was tasty. Coffee is very good.
The Blue Belle had come very highly recommended by somebody who is close to me. And as a self proclaimed pie connoisseur, I booked in a lunch visit. A lovely little Cafe in the heart of the Island Bay shopping center. Lots of friendly staff, and best of all, incredible food. I ordered the steak and cheese pie and the wife a Bacon and Egg, as per usual! The highlight of the pie is the pastry. Light and flakey, moist and delicious. And then we have the pie filling, the freshest produce and a perfect balance of flavors. We also had 2 flat whites and this was very good and the perfect addition to a cold day. Pop on down for a pie, it'll change your day.
I come here now and then for coffee and snacks, but this morning I had Holly's eggs, which was pretty much eggs Benedict. I had the smoked salmon option with the potato rosties. This was so yummy! Service was so good, very friendly and chatty, which made a great start to the day with positive vibes.
Been coming here since before the Blue Belle opened. The quality has got worse over the years. Pies and cabinet food remain reasonable, coffee is good, but the sit down meals are average at best. $24 for the ‘big’ breakfast is a laugh.
Disappointed. I've been here before and the food was above average. This time my pie disintegrated into a unrecognizable, uneatable mess as the mince filling was way too liquid and the pastry was uncooked. Mocha was very much like another incarnation of hot chocolate.
Awesome little cafe with really good food. Indoor and outdoor seating areas to relax and enjoy a chat over a drink. Friendly staff with a good selection of food and drinks
