   Nikau Café is an absolute gem in Wellington’s culinary scene, and my recent visit further cemented its reputation for excellence. Among their offerings, two dishes stood out as showstoppers: the kedgeree and the Montreal Benedict, perfectly complemented by their refreshing mimosas. The kedgeree is a masterclass in balance and flavour. The smoky fish, delicately spiced rice, and soft-boiled egg create a harmonious symphony that feels both comforting and refined. Every bite speaks to the care and precision the kitchen puts into crafting this iconic dish. The Montreal Benedict is equally memorable. With its rich, velvety hollandaise and beautifully poached eggs atop a bed of tender, flavourful brisket, it offers a modern twist on a classic that will leave you wanting more. The addition of a perfectly toasted base added a delightful crunch that elevated the dish. The mimosas were the perfect accompaniment to these meals. Light, crisp, and with just the right amount of citrus zing, they added a celebratory note to an already exceptional brunch experience.    The only place I know that makes Kedgeree, a lovely moist rice dish with smoked fish - it is superb, definitely 5 stars. The photo doesn’t really do it justice. If I lived in Wellington I’d come here all the time. Great coffee too.

   First time ever leaving a Google review. Absolutely outrageous serving time. We ordered two burgers and two seafood chowders (thought ordering two sets of same meals would've made it easier for the kitchen?). Took 55 minutes for the food to come out. Some people at the table next to us had to change it to take away as they had to go back to the office. Food was nice but didn't make my traumatic experience less bad. Never ever going back again.

   Went at about 12: PM on a Sunday and the place was packed! Lots of people seemed to have reserved tables. Was really nice inside with the sun shining in. Food is quite expensive, e.g $7 for a regular chocolate chip muffin (like the size of the ones you can buy in set of six for $6 at the supermarket). The cheese scone was also very lacking in flavour, couldn’t really taste the cheese. They do use supreme coffee though, which was lovely. Our waitress was great and delivered everything straight away and was super friendly. Overall great service and atmosphere, but just lacking in affordability and flavour.

   Great place. Coffee was lovely. The food was great. Avocado toast tasted wonderful. The porridge was great. The scone was delicious, tad more muffin like but still very yummy.

   Tasty specials, good friendly service even tho they were full which is nice. Flavourful with fresh ingredients. Everything was served warm and we'll presented. Make good use of the outside seatings on a sunny Wellington day with sunscreen, some tables have umbrellas.
