“We experienced a flat tyre on our way back to Rotorua, but fortunately, I had exited the expressway before the situation worsened, and by chance, I luckily found myself in front of the Super Liquor Sandhurst store at 8:50 pm on Tuesday, October 1st, 2024. I enquired inside where the closest service station was. However, without hesitation, and kindness, Damo offered his assistance to change the tyre when he had closed up the store. I felt truly grateful for the willingness of your staff member, Damo, who readily assisted to help us in this situation. His exceptional customer service skills and ability to connect with people set a new standard. I mentioned I wanted to learn to change a tyre and my daughters also. Damo had the patience of a saint and taught us. He earned legendary status as a truly selfless individual. Needless to say, we arrived home without incident. We are very appreciative. The owner has incredible knowledge and can help you find anything. Make sure you take an antihistamine (dusty for obvious reasons) and have a coffee before you arrive, as once you're here, you could easily spend hours perusing the shelves.”

“I was served by a young gentleman. Sadly I couldn't see a name badge. He was patient, helpful and courteous. I realised that my purchase was too big and heavy so requested that this be held as I had other groceries to buy and would come back with a trolley to collect the meat. This was no trouble. When back he was kind enough to load the trolley and hold the door open for me. A rare site nowadays. There's a great selection of fresh meat and great prices. I actually found preservative free sausages today. Thank you Doug!”

“Took a small party out for my wife's birthday. The food was great, and served quickly after ordering. I particularly liked the kumara fries! Was a great recommendation from the owner. Service was exceptional, you can tell when someone actually cares about their patrons. It showed in the number of people inside the business. It was a rainy Sunday evening and the resteraunt was at capacity! There was live music and good vibes in abundance. Despite being busy the proprietor checked on us multiple times, and once the live band had finished and a few people had left a table cleared inside which he offered to us for a more pleasant experience. Thank you for the hard work, we will be back!”

“First ever visit and I was not disappointed. The Sausage Roll was fresh, the pastry was crisp the filling was flavourful and filled the pastry. The Almond Croissant and the Panna Chocolate (even tho I didn't try them until I got back to Whakatane about 4hrs later) was absolutely devine. But what topped it all off was that the staff, as well as being friendly and helpful and just a breath of fresh air, actually brought everything out to the car, I have never had anyone do that for me. I am sure that locals know all this about Best anyways but they definitely deserve praise and I challenge all locals to nominate them for the 2024 Prospa Local Business Heroes because they deserve it. Keep up the amazing mahi that you girls are doing.”
