“Such good food served by the friendly owner who was very attentive. He was also very funny and had a great sense of humor about one in our party being late. I tried the veggie red & green curries and both were perfectly done and piled full of vegetables. The rice is super fresh and doled our generously every few minutes so you don’t have to worry about getting hungry.”

“We were warmly greeted on arrival and this set the tone for the rest of the evening. The food was outstanding, we shared 4 plates - the asparagus, the venison tataki, the lamb and the potatoes. “Sakura is a real “cherry” treasure well hidden inside Asian Mall. When we first found it, we couldn’t believe our luck. Small , family run Japanese restaurant with amazing options of both vegan and not vegan food. Our favourites are Agedashi Tofu, veggie tempura and seaweed salad which is must try ! There are some choices of sushi including vegetarian but if you ask they make it vegan. Plenty of choice of Sake as well for connoisseur of that drink. Staff is always nice and friendly and very polite. Since tables are limited booking is recommended especially on weekends as place is always packed. Sakura is No. 1 Japanese restaurant in town without doubt!”

“Came to Matamata with family, who are very picky eaters. When you walk in, the restaurant is split into a kebab shop portion and proper restaurant with double height ceiling with soft ambient lighting. Staff service was very polite, respectful and attentive. We ordered 9 dishes from chicken, to mussells to the vege platter. All of them tasted amazing! Our favourites were the: - Spanish mussells, the flavour of the sauce mixed well with bread. - Lamb cutlets, the Charcoal held well with the scent of the meat. Would recommend anyone to join, from couples wanting a nice dinner date to larger families, as ty have large numbers of seating. Cost is as per menu, not the cheapest in town, not fine dining; worth the price.”
