“The food was delicious and outstandingly well prepared. We had 11 out of the 17 menu items, every one of them was delicious and full of flavor. The person who was serving us made our visit the best and exciting with every plate she served us. Will go back every year we are scheduled to pickup cargo. Awesome food and wonderful atmosphere.”

We first discovered Joe’s Garage in Queenstown and instantly fell in love — the food, the layout, the vibe… everything was perfect. But the real star for us was the pancakes, which our daughter adored. For a whole year she talked about them and couldn’t wait to go back as we were from Auckland. So when we found out there was a Joe’s Garage in Silverdale, we were thrilled — even though we live all the way in Henderson, we were more than happy to make the trip. We finally arrived, excited and ready… only to learn that the famous pancakes are only served before 5pm, and we had arrived at 6:30pm. Our daughter was devastated, and honestly, so were we. But this is where the magic happened. Our wonderful server Tyra (who was also managing that evening) could see how much it meant to our daughter. We politely asked if there was any chance the chef might be able to make an exception. Instead of giving us a flat no, Tyra said, “Let me see what I can do.” She went to speak with the kitchen team, and came back with the most heartwarming news — their chef Hunter was willing to make a fresh batch of pancakes from scratch, just for our daughter. We were genuinely moved. This wasn’t standard service — this was above and beyond. Tyra’s kindness, and Hunter’s willingness to go out of his way, created a moment our family will never forget. Because of this experience, Joe’s Garage will forever have a special place in our hearts. Wherever we see a Joe’s Garage in the world, we’ll be loyal supporters — and our daughter will too. “Ichiban Ramen in Auckland city is hands-down the best ramen spot in town! Their karaage is an absolute must-try, it’s crispy, juicy, and always a highlight. “Selected the tasting menu which was superb, the staff had a great knowledge of the plates they were serving, each course was a delight. Going with the tasting option gave us the opportunity to sample the dishes we wouldn't ordinarily select. Learnt some fantastic new palate and flavor mixes. The head chef visited us and personally grated the fresh Christchurch Truffle which was amazing. All in all we can't fault the experience. Pricey yes but well worth it. Sorry the food pictures don't do the meal justice.”

“A hidden gem right in the heart of the city. You’ll miss it easily as it sits on the 1st floor and only noticeable from the menu and sign board which leads you up a flight of stairs. This place has been around for such a long time and it used to be a haunt with my mates during our uni days which was a couple of decades ago! A great selection of food and they don’t disappoint. What I’m impressed is that the consistency is still the same from day 1 and portion sizing is generous. They have a toilet available but you’ll need a key behind the counter and it comes with a super large keychain! Since nothing much has changed, the place is slightly run down and would definitely benefit from a little makeover.”

“Always a pleasure to dine at Lone Star, the Redneck ribs is always a favourite. My son loves to order it all the time. Staff are hospitable, smiling, lovely customer service. In between 3 weeks of dining, the menu has changed and the slaw is additional $5 to your meal. Regardless of, I still enjoy my meal without the slaw, as the first round of dining it has no flavour at all.”

“Excellent service, greeted and shown our seats as soon as we arrived. The staff were always on hand checking on us, never had to wait long to ask for another drink or anything else off the menu. The food was delicious. Large meals. Wanted to try the dessert but didn't have enough room in our bellies from the delicious food. Love the garlic loaf and the mocktails were yummy.”

The service was great - wait staff were very attentive and pleasant (they actually smiled - you don’t always get that these days). The meals themselves exceeded my expectations, both in flavour and size. There was also no issue with a small meal alteration I had. And I had an almond hot chocolate (which can sometimes be a bit hit-or-miss depending where you go) but it was nice and hot, and absolutely delicious… 10/10”

“Woah...portions are BIG....ribs were really nice and if you are not too hungry, maybe a starter portion is sufficient. their burger was also super, and beer to go with it. all good. Just be careful though if u are ordering sides, be clear what you ordered and how much extra it will cost. I ordered a side I thought came with the main course and ended up paying close to $10 for the side.”
